Sunbury House

Sunbury House is friendly, welcoming and hospitable. This lovely old home with pressed ceilings and warm wooden floors has been attractively and comfortably furnished, colourfully decorated, as a bed-and-breakfast guesthouse that does not cost the earth.

Sunbury House has seven rooms all en-suite, three rooms wheel chair friendly ranging from the spacious, bay-windowed gorgeous ones to very modestly priced neat-and-nice ones. The dark blue swimming pool on a wide lawn leads up to a sunny patio-lounge, particularly convivial places where laughter echoes and birds can be heard calling merrily.

The address is 24 Sunbury Avenue, at the intersection of St Swithins Avenue in Auckland Park, at the top end of funky Melville. Its a few minutes safe walk to all the fun and foods of Melvilles Seventh Street, very close to the Melville Koppies heritage site, to the training and educational institutions of Johannesburg, including the major hospitals and business schools.

Gerhard can arrange transport, tours, airport collections or deliveries. Wheel chair ramp easy access. Laundry and dry cleaning can also be arranged. Expect colour DSTV, Wi-Fi and fixed line access for laptops. There is safe and free parking on the property. We do provide the long term rental at special rates.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed"

    01 November 2011

"The warm atmosphere is probably the best feature of Sunbury House. Considering how late (11.30 pm) we arrived, it was surprising that staff were still very happy to welcome us. Breakfast and free internet were lovely. The room was a lot bigger than it appeared and it was very neat and tidy. Sunbury House is in a safe neighborhood and is conveniently located to many of Jozis main attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sunbury House."

"Spent one night over the weekend. Room was clean and spacious although somewhat dated. Very nice old house which was pleasant and cool due to shady garden and high ceiling.
