  • "Beautiful venue to do moon gazing"

    03 April 2018

"The venue has a lot of potential, it has a great view. However, facilities and interior need a little more attention, maintenance and renovation to make it comfortable for guests. We also suggest that the establishment provides toilet paper, candles and black bags instead of requesting guests to BYO."

  • "Remote and private hideaway"

    22 January 2018

"Awesome weekend stay. We loved the privacy so we could apply a clothing optional principle. Loved the break from technology but still enough comforts to not be roughing it too much. I would suggest that you advise people of the quality of the road a bit more. You told me that a car could get there but in our opinion you need a 4x4 to get there. My car most certainly would not have made it. We did arrive in the dark and I would say that the problem with arriving in the dark is not that the house has no electricity but that the road is dark and steep. We almost got blown away by the wind but it was bad everywhere this weekend. It did highlight that the house could do with a bit of maintenance, just a few loose boards, nothing terribly serious. I would check the triangular window in the loft bedroom. Not too fond of the rocky shower floor, could be hazardous to some but loved the hot water and the window, pity it was not on the other side of the house, with a view. All in all we absolutely loved it. The one thing that would have made it really perfect is a jacuzzi on the deck."

  • "Beautiful View!"

    "Everything was fantastic!"

  • "Stunning views, absolute silence........"

    16 April 2017

"Moon Gazing Cabin is a gem, because of the setting, the silence, the nature all around it. It has a lovely stoep to spend time on. Inside it was cosy with a huge fireplace and enough space to lounge about with boardgames and/or books to read. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bathroom was perfect.BUT unfortunately, we will not return. There were no gas bottles to supply hot water or heat the hotplate. We had to phone the owners. Gasbottles were brought to us late-afternoon on our 1st day. (Apparently the previous ones were stolen). Later when it became darker, it became apparent that there was no solar power as promised, which meant that the fridge wasn't working (it was filled with 2 days' supplies) and then we also discovered that there was no plug-point for cell-phones to be charged at ( Also as promised, and it wouldn't have helped in any case, as there was no power....) After phoning the owners again, we were told that they had a new system installed and would send some-one the next day...... The next afternoon some-one came to have a look, and after telling us that he knows the place well and that the gas-bottles and solar panels get stolen regularly, he fixed the problem. So after 3 o'clock on the 2nd day, we had solar power. The fridge was working until about 9 o'clock that night and there was still no plug for cell-phones :-(So...... Don't promise things, that is not there. The whole idea that everything gets stolen up there, freaked our kids out. Another thing, while guests are visiting, how about brochures or notes or something to tell us what/where/when ???? Walking trails? etc?"

  • "Lovely break away"

"Simple but very adequate for a weekend away from the city bustle. Beautiful views and nice ambiance for evenings at a huge fireplace inside! Also conveniently close to lovely towns, winefarms etc. Thought the wind would blow us away!"

  • "Amazing"

    23 September 2013

"I'd go back at any time! The view was spectacular! It was so peaceful and quiet. Just being so close to nature made us wanted to stay like forever! The crockery in the kitchen and the big ol' fireplace, almost brought tears to my eyes 'cause it took me way back to my childhood days in grandma's kitchen. I truly felt at home. The kids enjoyed the freedom of exploring the river and the mountain, insects, animals, waterfall, it was simply awesome! Thanks for adding to my family's memorable moments."

  • "Sublime!"

"This romantic rustic cottage with it’s wonderful charm and comfort is the perfect destination for a weekend away from the city! It’s nestled amongst the fynbos with magic views of the beautiful surrounding mountains. Tranquility and serenity are how I would best define the experience of staying at this cottage! Antelope and other creatures can be observed directly from the great deck at the front of this private nature reserve. The cottage has a wonderful big fireplace in the open-plan kitchen/lounge that leads out to the front deck. Moon Gazing Cabin is a special find, and the type of place that will bring visitors back again and again!"

  • "Great stay in the bush"

"What a great place to be, absolutely stunning view. It was great to get away from our everyday luxuries to enjoy a weekend away. Would return anytime again!"

  • "We had a lovely time."

    05 May 2010

"So peaceful and relaxing and exactly what we've had in mind when we booked the cabin."

  • "Total Tranquility"

    18 January 2010

"There are no words to describe how relaxing Moon Gazing Cabin is. It is so comfortable and cosy. The breathtaking view is incredible. The daybeds on the deck is a place to put your feet up and watch the birds swooping high in the sky. It is ideally situated close to the river yet has total privacy. We spent our weekend hiking in Tweede Tol and lazing in numerous rock pools. If there is a place that you would like to escape to, this is it. I will definitely return to indulge again."
