The Farm Bathurst

The Farm Bathurst is situated almost half way between Grahamstown and Bathurst in the Eastern Cape. It is also roughly halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London. It is a game farm with numerous species of game and birds. Guests can watch the Giraffe being fed in the mornings, and can feed the Donkeys (please bring Apples and Carrots!). Game drives can be arranged and guests can walk freely on The Farm. You can also bring your mountain bikes. If you want longer distances there are many kilometres of gravel road around the Farm for the mountain biker or runner to explore. The more adventurous can swim in the farm dams.

Accommodation is provided in two self-catering units, namely Die Erf Too and Acacia Cottage. Both are fully equipped for a comfortable stay. You need to bring only your food and beverages, personal belongings and some drinking water. Die Erf Too has 2 en-suite bedrooms sleeping 5 with an open plan living area. Acacia Cottage has 2 double bedrooms with a single bathroom and an open plan living area. Each unit features a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, fridge and all cutlery and crockery. Only Acacia Cottage has a TV which can be activated at an additional cost if required. There is also a campsite with hot water, shower and flush toilet. Escape to a peaceful farm environment and relax.

A short drive away is the Pig and Whistle in Bathurst that boasts to be the oldest licensed pub in the country. Guests could also visit the worlds largest pineapple in Bathurst and learn all about pineapples and more.

  • "The tame game.. at your door step... Jerry the giraffe and company"

    29 December 2019

"Private and located next to a water hole .. the game know when there are visitors and makes for a unique stay. The wooden cabin had all that you needed to enjoy the bushfeld and game. The toilet connection to the main drain leak must be fixed to prevent the sewage smell in the bathroom."

  • "FANTASTIC STAY AT THE FARM"

    05 April 2016

"<p>What a treat it was to stay at The Farm ! Our first morning we awoke to the majestic presence of JR the giraffe......just metres away from the cabin, while enjoying a morning cup of tea. This is nature at its best. JR awaits his morning feed at the feeding tray, while the rest of the heard (not as tame) mill around the dam. This experience is a really special one and is an added benefit to your stay. Together with the giraffes, you will be treated to extremely tame donkeys as well as an Nyala bull and two females. Who needs a game drive when this is right at your doorstep - literally! JR also joined us for our sun downers and evening braais ! A very comfortable and happy stay was had and I would recommend this to anyone who is a nature lover ! Close to most major centres like Grahamstown and Port Alfred, gives a person the opportunity to explore and enjoy the historic surroundings.</p><p>THANK YOU Gordon for an unforgettable experience.</p><p>Regards,</p><p>Brad &amp; Michelle Braithwaite</p>"
