Speekhout is an organic farm lying in a valley in the Baviaanskloof, where you can enjoy exceptional peace and quiet under the protection of, The Crocodile and other beautiful cliffs and rock formations.
We offer a completely different accommodation experience in Speekhout's tree house, which is built in an enormous Karee tree allowing for 360-degree views. The house can sleep up to six people; one bedroom can sleep four and there is a sleeper couch in the rustic living room. Above the double bed is a retractable roof so that guests can star-gaze from the comfort of their bed.
The small kitchen is equipped for self-catering and the living room features a fireplace. The bathroom has a hot water and contains a shower and flush toilet.
Speekhout, or Kigglaria Africana, is the wild peach tree which was used for wheel spokes, hence the common name. At the Speekhout Tea Garden you can enjoy the well-known Baviaans Breakfast, as well as toasted sandwiches, refreshing cool drinks, tea and coffee, and the ever popular Baviaans mudcake.
Speekhout also boasts one of the largest collections of bonsai in the country. Whether you are a connoisseur or not, you will be captured by the beauty of these living works of art. Explore the terrain and hike up and around the mountains and neighbouring kloofs, and if available a retired local naturalist can be your guide. Come and experience Speekhout's tree house and drink in the restful atmosphere.
