African Sun Guest House

African Sun Guest House is at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains and it has a spectacular view from each room. It is set in a country atmosphere with plenty of space, large gardens and a dam for bass fishing. Guests can rise to the sound of chirping bird life and the cries of guinea fowls roosting.

Stroll through the rose garden or sit in our garden under an umbrella and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Designed to offer a homely environment, the African Sun Guest House offers superb bed and breakfast accommodation in an ambiance of country style. We offer luxurious suites, each individually furnished and decorated. Each suite has its own entrance and verandah overlooking the garden. Our comfortable family suites are ideal for any self-catering holiday with the children. The units are fully equipped including fridges, microwaves and TVs, as well as spacious patios.

We are located 2 km from the famous Fancourt Hotel which boasts one of the best golf courses on the Garden Route. Harolds Bay is 10 minutes away and is very clean and safe. The Tramonto wedding venue is up the road and guests often use our accommodation for these functions. We are in the centre of strawberry fields and the Strawberry Festival is held during the month of September.

  • "Lovely Stay"

    24 January 2022

"Thank you for a most enjoyable stay (in spite of it being the hottest day of the year). Very comfortable beds and the rondavel had every thing we needed. A ceiling fan would be a good idea for these very hot days."

  • "Lovely Flat"

    26 August 2019

"Unfortunately the previous patron in our booked rondavel had smoked so the very accommodating Kelly checked us into a 2 bedroom flat let at the same rate. Lovely clean serviced flat, pleasantly decorated. Awesone shower. Really pretty garden to have your morning coffee in."

  • "No other place available at short notice"

    05 March 2017

"Will most definitely not be staying there ever again. Way overpriced and really bad service. Were the most expensive and most uncomfortable stay on our whole trip from Knysna. Right around Cape piont up the west coast"

  • "Pleasant stay at African Sun Guest House"

    20 July 2015

"We stayed over for only two nights and we basically only slept there, since we were sightseeing during the day. We also did not have breakfast at the guest house, therefore can not comment on the food and service. The room however which we stayed in was neat and tidy, containing all the basics required. The people are very friendly andwelcoming. The location is quite convenient when one wants to do sightseeing in and around George and it was great to have the Red Berry Farm as a neighbour which our 7 yr old really enjoyed."

  • "Not up to 3-star standard"

    26 November 2012

"We stayed at African Sun Guest House in November 2012. This establishment is rated 3-star but it is definitely not up to standard and very overpriced. - There were cobwebs and dust along the ceiling and a dead fly on the bathroom windowsill. - There was hair on the inside of the duvet, it had clearly not been washed since the last guests stayed there. - Dirty cups and crockery to be found in the kitchenette. (which had no sink) - Only one set of towels, even though it was a double room. - General cleanliness is lacking. The garden is beautiful, but we certainly won't stay there again. <br></br> <br><b>Establishment's Response</b></br> <br><i>Just to let you know that the inspector for the star rating gave me a very high 3 Star and my rates are far lower than others in my area. This lady was the only person in 8 years who ever complained and I did not charge her the balance oustanding. You never please everyone and unfortunatly some are just impossible. By the way the dead fly in the window cill was a poor little bee. Regards Ingrid</i></br>"

  • "Beautiful place"

    25 December 2011

"The African Sun Guest House is spacious and well set up. We appreciated having our own little boiler, toaster, microwave, and even mini-fridge. What a great deal! The only unfortunate part was the lack of hot water in the shower. This would be a great place to bring a group since there is ample space for gathering."
