Rietfontein Cottage

This is a beautifully appointed self-catering cottage situated on a working farm, about 15 km from Bredasdorp.

The cottage consists of two bedrooms, a full private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan living area with two single beds and a fireplace. There is a covered patio area with a dining table and lovely views of the valley.

The cottage is surrounded by beautiful farmlands where bike routes and hiking trails can be enjoyed. Guests can swim in the farm dam on a hot summers day, or just relax on the patio while relishing in the peace and quiet.

The cottage's electricity is supplied by solar power and a generator that is switched on and off from inside the cottage.

"Great Cottage. Everything is very clean and in a good condition.Had all the bits and bobs that are normally missing [potato peeler =) ]The solar power and gas work well and are easy to operate. We didn't need to use the generator but there are sufficient instructions to operate it. The vibe of the farm is great - gives you the real farm feel. From the farm you cannot hear or see any lights or noise other than your own. (or if a Mirage fighter plane flies over - only happened once and I like planes so it was a plus)Otherwise it is a prefect spot to relax on the stoep and look at some cows - which some times stare back at you. Great spot for bird watching - we had a flock of 20 Blue cranes land nearby and spotted two massive owls at night. If you have a big family and want to let the kids run around without breaking the bank this spot is for you. Only negatives are: the dirt road to get to the place. it's not a bad dirt road just not comfortable driving 4km every time you want to go to town or the beach. (I am being difficult here) And secondly it's a bit of a drive from Cape Town on a Friday afternoon."

"We really enjoyed our couple of days resting amidst farm animals, wild birds in a beautifully appointed cottage. Swimming in the farm dam at sunset is a must."
