Wayside Budget Hotel

The Wayside Hotel is the only business hotel of its kind in Butterworth and offers eight comfortably furnished rooms. The hotel caters mainly for business travellers and is also an ideal stopover for travellers through the area.

The rooms are all equipped with air-conditioning and a TV with DStv, and tea and coffee-making facilities are also available in each room. All linen and towels are provided and a laundry and room service is available on request. The hotel features its own restaurant and bar area and can cater for up to 100 delegates. We also offer undercover parking for guests' peace of mind.

Butterworth is situated north of the Great Kei River and boasts two waterfalls nearby. In addition, the town has many shopping centres and activities for guests to enjoy, including a golf course.

"Only one bath towel in the room for two persons. Admittedly when we asked for another they did deliver.No teaspoons or stirrers for tea or coffee. Only one Rooibos teabag.Cold tap in basin hardly worked - just a trickle. Hot tap marginally better.Single bed sheet on double bed.Bedding in my daughter's room was dirty.Aircon in my daughter's room not cooling properly.I was not informed at time of booking that liquor is not sold on a Sunday and that the restaurant would not be open.Highlights - not many. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was very pleasant and caring. He checked the rooms with me before allocating them. One smelt terribly of smoke despite no smoking signs in the bedrooms. The other so-called highlight i suppose was that my car had secure parking in the basement. Unfortunately will never book again at this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone. A bad experience to say the least."
