Drayton is one of the oldest farms in the Overberg and the original mill, that dates back to the mid 1700's, is still on the farm, as well as part of the original wagon route.
The farm is only 8km outside Caledon, on the N2 in the direction of Riviersonderend. Visitors can reach the cottage by car and will only have to travel 800m of gravel road.On arrival guests will receive a freshly baked bread and home baked rusks.
A menu from which guests can order homecooked meals and fresh baking, to be enjoyed in the privacy of the cottage is also provided. Guests can relax on the veranda and enjoy the scenery, or take an easy hike to the waterfall in the nearby mountain. A small mountain stream also flows past the cottage.
"The cottage is situated in a very quite and peaceful part of the farm. The host was very pleasant and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable."
"We love the place it's awesome most of all it is nature. Everything was on its place and very neat. The bedroom was perfect temperature for such a cold weather outside. Eish I have to go again. Thanks to the owners."
"the advert online describes the lovely newly baked load of bread one receives on arrival. I did not receive this."
"We were really disappointed with what we saw when actually arriving on the farm, shared facilities for R600 per night, nothing more that backpackers at ridiculous price, we've stayed at gems for R200 more per night...."
"Great! Hosts are amazing! Perfect for a one nighter"
"While the cottage might include a freshly baked bread and rusks and a menu to choose home cooked meals from - Piet se kinders had no such luxuries and consist of converted containers, where one room consists of about half a container with two single beds in....this should be mentioned more clearly on the website so people who don't enjoy staying in the equivalent of a backpackers book elsewhere."
"Beautiful surroundings but keep in mind the cottage is rustic with mountain water. Not child friendly and the place needs burglar bars like the main house. No DSTV as advertised on website<br />"
"The cottage is located just outside of Caledon, which is a quick drive from Cape Town. The cottage had everything we could've wanted for our stay. We will definitely be back. The rusks and freshly baked bread from Rene was a nice touch and very delicious I might add.<div><br /></div><div><br /></div>"
"Enjoyed every moment of the entire weekend at piet-my-vrou cottage!! Most of our time we spent sitting infront of the fireplace.. Thanks to Ren-Louis for the freshly baked bread. Will certainly come again just to break away."

This is the spookiest cottage ever! Like the introduction scene to a horror movie. My husband and I (with our 7 month old baby) found the place to be haunting, cold, remote and very old. The only picture in the cottage is of the run down cottage prior to the restoration. The main bedroom has a vintage quilt (creepy) and a cross was found hanging upside down. The antique cupboards in the bedrooms could not all be openened and the main bedroom door could not be locked. Some windows had no curtains. The ancient miniature box tv with DSTV had no signal and inside the cottage there was absolutely no cell phone reception. We spent a total of 45 minutes in the cottage coming to the realisation that the night would be better spent at home and high-tailed back to Cape Town. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"></span><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: "arial","sans-serif"; color: #585858; font-size: 10.5pt;">On the upside, the owner was very welcoming and friendly, and I would have loved to have a piece of freshly baked farm style bread. The view is amazing and the air is fresh! This place is excellent for the adventurous type and groups of 4 or more people (adults) who dont need technology. And the price is most reasonable.<o:p></o:p></span></p>"
"We enjoyed our one night stay immensely. Beautiful rustic cottage. Lovely views. Perfect for a break."
"A real break away. Awesome views and great hosts. The bread and rusks were delicious."
"The cottage was really stunning. Very lovely and quaint, and such a tranquil, gorgeous setting."
"'n Lieflike, goed toegeruste huisie. Als wat jy nodig het is daar. Van ordentlik wynglase tot 'n koffie 'plunger'. A lovely, well equipped house. Everything you need is there. From proper wine glasses to a coffee plunger."
