"The signage for the trails. Visible coming in but not from the exit direction. Possibly a few markers?"

"The house has all the basic necessities one needs. We followed Roux's advice and took along a whole cooler-box of ice - it was good advice, especially if you stay longer than just a weekend. With no electricity and cellphone reception, one can truly just relax. Experience the most awesome night-sky with absolutely no lights nearby!! Make sure to have a braai at the Lapa next to the dam. Karel and Susan are two amazing people and an excellent source of information about the area. In my opinion, a real good value for money experience!"

  • "Peaceful seclusion in nature!"

    28 March 2017

"We were surprised to find that we had an entire mountain all to ourselves! The drive to the cabin is incredibly scenic, took us about half an hour on the 4x4 trail up the mountain from the farm entrance. In photos it looks like there are houses nearby, these are however ruins and the nearest people are the farm manager, Karel and his wife at the bottom of the mountain! The scenery is stunning, the 4x4 trail an adventure and the lapa we had a braai at at the dams was a great addition where we spent the afternoon with cold drinks. Bring lots of ice! A whole cooler box full if you can! On our way down we were lucky enough to bump into the owner and fellow Land Rover enthusiast, John, who invited us to his beautifully restored farm house for coffee. We have been on many weekend getaways, this cottage has to be one of the best! A real hidden gem. There is also a larger house elsewhere on the farm that we plan to book for our next trip because we have to show our friends this place!"

"For the amount we paid we expected more."

  • "Social Media Free Getaway - Great Value"

    01 April 2016

"We enjoyed our stay at Waterfall Cottage. The cottage has all the basics including hot water & even a fridge. Loads of braai wood was provided. It was great to be isolated from the world but also a bit scary to be so disconnected from social media. The trip there and back was a bit harrowing, more like 4x4 territory but all the stress was for nothing in the end and my Rav4 SUV had no problem with the hilly terrain. All in all a good place to go if you want to get away from it all for a while."

"The house was secluded amongst the mountains and between the views and the stars, the rest didn't really matter. All we needed was some more ice for the hot weather. Very friendly hosts too."
