Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve

Inkwenkwezi is situated in the malaria free Eastern Cape of South Africa. The reserve is situated within an area of one hundred square kilometres encompassing five different biomes (vegetation types) which offer varied game viewing. It is one of the few reserves with a tidal estuary. The reserve has four of the big five and a variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra & other predators. The reserve is five minutes from magnificent beaches and a 40-minute drive from a national airport. Driving to Inkwenkwezi is a pleasure as the roads are tarred right to the entrance.

The game reserve features a Bush Camp, consisting of six two-person lavish en-suite safari tents and the Valley Camp offering 12 guests accommodation in six custom designed luxury tents. For meal times, Inkwenkwezi offers guests the finest dining options. Have an elegant African dining experience at the Emthombeni Restaurant or indulge in a culinary delight at the Sunset Lapa.

Visitors to Inkwenkwezi are given the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities, including game drives, bird watching including the rarely sighted Stanley Bustard as well as Knysna Turaco and Kingfisher to mention only a few of the 276 bird species that has been recorded here, all in the company of a trained guide, who has the knowledge and passion of the African Bush. • "excellent game reserve"

    01 July 2018

"our stay was a surprise gift, we had been here before, but only on a day game drive. our guide, Branden was excellent, very knowledgeable about the park and the animals and could answer our questions thoroughly. he is an asset to your park, would highly recommend him. the accommodation was excellent as was the meals and staff at the restaurant, we saw everything that we had hope to see, and the elephant experience was very interesting and gave us an insight into their predicament in the wild. would certainly recommend at least an overnight stay at Inkwenkwezi.yours yvonne and davy thomson, scotland"

  • "Fabulous visit"

    08 February 2016

"Branden was our ranger for the 2 night/3 day stay and he absolutely MADE our visit. He went thecectra mile with his attentiveness, good humour, animal knowledge and all round sense of fun. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The game drives were full of adventure in "the beast", Brandens landrover. Time with the white lions was very special as was an early morning drive. Plenty of yummy food - especially the braaied meat. We ended up with Sunday buffet lunch - a buffet like no other. So many options.. the roast llamb was the best ever. Inkwenkwezi means star... undoubtedly Branden is the star of Inkwenkwezi for us."

  • "value for money"

    20 February 2015

"Inkwenkwezi may not be the biggest game reserve in South Africa, but it is certainly value for money and is big enough to keep you occupied for several days.
All meals, game drives and most activities are included in the price.
The valley camp tents are all private and you would not realise that anyone else was staying there, as you cannot see any other accommodation from your tent.
You are allocated a personal guide who will take you on game drives and organise any other activities you fancy. He will also pick you up and take you for meals in the restaurant (unless you fancy walking and passing the local nyala, wildebeast and monkeys en-route!.) We did the elephant & the cheetah interactions and also quad biking (this was a little scary, but fun).
The reserve is big enough to feel like you are in the wild & we saw plenty of wildlife including giraffe, rhino, zebra & the infamous white lions (though they do have there own fairly large enclosure).
We didn't find the buffallo, though they are there somewhere.
Just one star deducted as the swimming pool furniture needs upgrading (though i was reliably told that they were on order).
A special mention to our guide Byron who was excellent & also to the elephant handlers who were also very good."

  • "Awesome experience"

    06 January 2014

"It was worth the money! Elephant experience, cheetahs and white lions. Ashley, our guide, went out of her way to make us comfortable during our short stay. Tents were comfortable during the high temperatures we experienced. We will definitely be back!"

  • "A family gathering"

    01 September 2011

"After seven visits to South Africa we feel that we are more visitors than tourists and know how things are done. This year we gave the guys at the Ink a go. It is hard to qualify Ink against some of the more game rich and popular reserves, as this one stands out for the rare, "What do you guys want to do today?" approach. Spot the difference: "Wake up it's time for your drive..and on the left is a Kudu" and "Do you guys want to go for a morning game drive or quad bike ride or do a trip on the horses?. Your call." Now I have to stop here and quickly state that the the accommodation, tick, catering, tick, location and type of eating and merry making areas, big tick. Special mention to Rodger (the Afrikaans poker face game driver that I will never play cards against). He kept everyone in fits of laughter and stitched everything together. I give him 5 big stars for the way he made two locals, two local goat farmers, and two Aussies feel like one family for the entire time we were there. Back to the venue. If you wanted to fall off cliffs with ropes or paddle in little boats, that option is available, as well as East London being close enough to pop in and visit if required. Now for the special stuff. They have about 10 white lions and cubs and three cheetahs that you can pet, make purr and get your picture taken with! So why not 5 instead of 4 stars? If the rating was for the fun and laughter then it was a great 5! The only reason for the slight mark down was because of the difference between large scale free roaming game reserves further north and the Ink. However, to qualify that statement, you can't have that many white lions roaming free and enjoy all the other activities that this place provides. See you next year."
