  • "Terrible"

"Without a doubt the worst stopover ever in Colesburg"

  • "A lovely night at Coniston House"

    04 January 2018

"Coniston House is a lovely BnB with an old English feel to it. Within walking distance of many different restaurants, it is nicely situated away from all the loud bustle of the town. We were warmly welcomed and our room was very neat. The beds were adequately comfortable. There is a small garden area for guests to sit in, which is very peaceful and beautiful. Breakfast was very nicely presented, although I would have preferred more vegetarian/vegan options for the warm breakfast. Other than that, I would definitely return to Coniston House!"

  • "Beautiful house!"

    27 November 2017

"Beautiful house and furniture with old world charm. A little bit disappointed as I arrived to a locked up house and found a note on the door to phone the care taker. Had to wait on the side walk (with a full bladder after driving from Pretoria) for 10 minutes before she arrived to open up. The dstv in the room that I was allocated wasn't working and I was moved to another room. When I wanted to make coffee which is on offer in the room, I discovered that there was no milk, or milk substitute. I had to phone the care taker again as there was no one else on the property and she just said "oops I forgot". I asked whether she could make a plan and she told me that there is no milk on the premesis and that all the shops were closed already. She didn't sound very eager to help. Such a disappointment.... I would expect better service in a beautiful venue such as this."

  • "Charming and welcoming stay!"

    30 August 2016

"All in all a great experience. If you are looking for the most up to date TV, lighting etc. this is not for you. If you are ken on somewhere with history, great ambiance and friendly service, then you wont be disappointed. My only criticism is that not all rooms have showers, but bath only which is not ideal for some. We were fortunate enough that the rooms with showers were not occupied and were able to use them. I would happily visit again."

  • "Lovely accommodation"

"Beautiful clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly host. Had a very enjoyable, restful stay in Colesberg and would definitely stay there again."

  • "Not recommended"

    13 January 2014

"I would not recommend it on arrival I was told that the room I booked and paid for was not available and that I have to pay for a 3rd person as this is the only room available we travel with a 11 month old baby and the owner told us we would not find other accommodation in Colesberg. After about 20 min we were told that they booked the room double and the other persons have not paid yet and we can have it. My wife had no water after my shower. Unfortunately there was no other accommodation in the town due to peak season I would not recommend the guest house."

  • "What a disaster"

    15 January 2013

"When we phoned Coniston House on the 26th December 2012 to confirm that we will be arriving a bit late (19h00) because we left Polokwane late in the morning they assured us that all is ok, but that we can only book in after 16h00 on the 26th Dec, which was ok with us since we would only arrive there at about 19h00. On arrival at Coniston at 19h00 and being on the road for 9 hours we were informed that our rooms were not ready. After a huge argument they said that they will refund our money. We pre-booked and paid our stay 4 weeks in advance. What a joke! They obviously double booked and could not help us. Try and find accom in Colesberg during the Dec Peak season? Not that easy. If I could advise anybody. Never never never stay at Coniston since they are totally unreliable and very un professional in their dealings."

  • "Clean and comfortable"

    06 November 2012

"Accommodation was clean and comfortable, which is all a weary traveller ever asks for. Loses one star for not getting my booking right when I specifically requested a double bed and ended up in a single bed. Loses another star for advertising check-in time as 2pm and then being told it's actually 4pm upon arrival. Luckily my room was ready. Otherwise a very pleasant stay. Can recommend Die Plattelander restaurant within walking distance of Coniston House."
