Locomotive Lodge

Nestled in the mountains of the Eastern Cape near Cookhouse, lies Eastport Station and Locomotive Lodge. The lodge consists of the old station house, converted into guest rooms, with the old ticket office transformed into the dining area. The interiors of the houses are all original wood with antique finishes, yet also equipped with modern facilities.

Each comfortable and homely room includes a double bed, private bathroom, TV with DStv, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The rooms also have access to a self-catering kitchen and breakfast can be enjoyed in the ticket office, which also includes a fully licensed bar. Dinner can be provided upon request, and barbecue facilities and open parking for vehicles are also provided.

Walk on the farm, fish in the river or dam, or bird watch. Guests can also use the accommodation as a stopover to one of the numerous game reserves in the area, and for golfing enthusiasts, there is a course available in Bedford, just 20 km away.

  • "Excellent budget accommodation and in the right place to break the journey"

"Very nostalgic to stay at an old station! Clean, neat and tidy with all you need for a quick stop over. Only complaint was that there were no signs to say where we could get the key once we drove in. Also there was a bit of noise from the trucks driving on the nearby road but that was to be expected and wouldn't keep us from coming back. Otherwise we definitely enjoyed our stay."
