Bee Tree Cottage

Bee Tree Cottage is fully-equipped for self-catering and comfortably appointed for two people. Electricity is supplied for a fridge, lights and a radio to keep in touch. For cooking, we have installed a two-plate electrical stove and hot water is provided from the solar geyser. The bathroom has a basin, shower with hot and cold running water and a flushing toilet connected to a septic tank. Linen, towels and soap are provided.

During the winter months or cool summer nights, you may enjoy a touch of yesteryear. Curl up to the Welcome Dover stove that burns with coal and wood and heats up the cottage in no time at all. The stove is, of course, ideal for cooking too. Cool down under our cold water bush shower on those balmy summer days and nights. It is big enough for two. Enjoy a braai and tranquil sunset, or gaze out over the pond that is visible from the cottage.

The pond attracts small buck and numerous bird species that may be viewed in comfort from the verandah. The cottage is in the transition region between broad-leaved woodland and Highveld grasslands. Habitation in the vicinity includes koppies, rocky slopes, gorges, rivers, dams, wetlands and farmlands. From the cottage, there is easy access to the Moloto, Rust De Winter, Wilge River and Verena areas.

Bee Tree Farm was listed as one of the top bird viewing destinations in the Chamberlains top 101 in Gauteng, and 268 bird species has been sighted in our vicinity. A couple of striped kingfishers breed in the garden of Bee Tree Farm. Very recently, a couple of pearl breasted swallows and tinkling cisticolas were spotted on the southwest corner of Bee Tree Farm. Protea Kaffra grows in abundance on the farm, attracting birds.

Bee Tree Safari Boma Cabins for Families, when last did you enjoy precious time with your children, away from electronic equipment, long discussions around a fire, having marshmallows, stories of your childhood, watching stars, cycling on your bicycles, game viewing in the main road, playing ball games and plenty more. No loud music is allowed in order to protect the haven of birds for the bird watchers. Take time off, bring your blanket, enjoy a book, and wander around on the 23-hectare farm. There is privacy for two people only. Please supply your own wood.

  • "Bliss!"

"What an amazing way to start off our Honeymoon. The simplicity and privacy of BeeTree Cottage is ideal after the stress of a wedding. We really enjoyed waking up to the sound of nothing else but birds outside - no cars, no neighbours, nothing! Just peace and quiet. Highly recommended if you want to get away from city-life."

  • "Wow!!!"

    18 August 2008

"We had a relaxing stay, that is if you excluded an extremely busy 14 month baby. She enjoyed every minute, especially bathing in the kitchen sink. We saw a lot of "bokkie spoor", but Nadia was a bit loud and scared away any potential visitors. We can definitely recommend any one, with or without small children, to visit BeeTree. The solitude was exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries! Thanks to Marius and Anton for sharing their little piece of heaven with us."
