Gum Tree Glen

Gum Tree Glen is set in the blissful ambience of KwaZulu-Natal's Midlands. Just a stone's throw from Curry's Post and 10 minutes from Howick with its abundant shopping and legendary falls, it overlooks the glorious Karkloof Valley. Surrounded by farmlands, trees and fields of green, the venue has a wealth of bird life, with occasional sightings of storks, cranes, fish eagles and owls. We are at the end of a 3km private dirt road (off the Curry's Post Road) with easy access to the local wedding venues, as well as the cyclists' paradise of the Karkloof Club and its myriad Sappi trails and the famous Saturday Karkloof Farmer's Market.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Gum Tree Glen. The hospitality went further than expected with all the little thoughtful extras that the host had provided. The cottage is not that far from Howick and the Midlands Meander so there was plenty to do in the area. We will definitely visit again."

"i loved the cottage, it is comfortable and had all the necessities for a quick weekend visit. i appreciated the basic tea coffee milk etc in the kitchen. The bed was cosy and comfy. The only thing I would have liked added, was curtains (lace curtains or blinds) on the kitchen/lounge windows."

  • "Wonderful setting for a family weekend away!"

    13 August 2018

"The Wrinkly Tin cottage was everything as described and more. Comfortable space for a family to safely enjoy the Midlands farm life with lovely rustic chic decor, cozy beds with luxury linen & super soft blankets and all necessary appliances for self catering. We were welcomed on arrival by Kerry, who explained the cottages quirks, and Peta popped by to say hi and check we had everything we needed. While settling in, we discovered the lovely treasures... books for all tastes, my youngest read most of the childrens picture books!... A tv & dvds in case we felt like a movie and dstv, which we didnt make use of as the scenery and area is so pretty we didnt want to spend our time there watching tv. While hubby starting our braai fire, our youngest discovered the items in the fridge... even a bowl of ice-cream mom! It was actually real farm butter ;) ,milk, bread, juice, eggs, filter coffee, biscuits and rusks... Even mini cereal boxes. Bathrooms stocked with shampoo& body wash. So very thoughtful! My girls loved waking early to go greet the cows in the pasture and we enjoyed a delightful 3km hillside walk. Found this cottage very central to enjoy the Midlands Meander! Thanks Peta & Kerry for your extraordinary hospitality and making such a special place so affordable for our family!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gum Tree Glen. The hosts are extremely friendly and hospitable and made us feel very welcome . The bed was extremely comfortable with a cosy duck down duvet...... something we are not used to in Durban ...Besides supplying ample amounts of tea and coffee , for my coffee-holic husband , we liked the added touch of a choice of rusks / cookies / cereal / yogurt and orange juice for breakfast in the morning .Definitely good value for money <br/> Thank you Peta and Kerry for the wonderful stay ..... we will definitely recommend your cottage to family and friends"
