The Old Pastorie

The Old Pastorie is situated in the charming village of Darling, in the heart of the wild flower area, and offers beautiful accommodation in a manor house built in 1865.

The historic house is set on 100 acres of a nature reserve with a lake and a variety of wildlife. The four double rooms all have en-suite bathrooms and linen is provided. All rooms are furnished with comfortable queen-size beds and one room has a full en-suite bathroom while the others have showers only. For an extra person, another bed can be added at an additional cost. Each room has a CD player and tea and coffee facilities. All the rooms have lovely garden or lake views.

With the lake nearby, The Old Pastorie is great for birdwatching and guests will see herons, spoonbills, Egyptian geese and many other species that make this their home at different times of the year. Animals are allowed, but with restrictions due to the wildlife. Unfortunately no children under 12 are allowed and the establishment is no smoking. Guests can also cool down in the plunge pool.

For breakfast, 'The Marmalade Cat' in the village is highly recommended. Guests can also visit Evita se Perron and enjoy a show or spend a day at the beach in nearby Yzerfontein and explore the sights and sounds of this delightful town. For those who love history, the Darling Museum is worth a visit. The Old Pastorie is a great location for guests looking for peace and tranquility.

"What seemed like a grand old dame of a home, is now run down and a bit neglected. Could have been a good stay, but not enough attention to detail.<br /><br />Pros: Beautiful building, nice pool and views.<br /><br />Cons:&nbsp; our room was teeming with dozens of daddy long legs spiders, cobwebs, ants and dust... very off-putting.<br />The owner must check each room before guests come to stay, or get another cleaner...<br /><br />&nbsp;<br />"

"Situated at the edge of Darling, and bordering an orchard of Olive trees this 100+ year old house afforded comfortable and spacious accommodation. The surrounding farmland offered quiet and tranquil walks in nature. It was far enough from the hustle & bustle of the town and close enough to enjoy the Voorkamerfest and Evita's Perron.Pieter & Lenie van Zyl, Alberton, Gauteng."

"Our host was gracious. We were not informed that breakfast was not included. It would have been appreciated if we received a rusk or yoghurt and muesli and a fruit as that was all we wanted for breakfast. Were we informed we could have brought our own but then we needed a little bar fridge to keep it in. We would have liked to have ice available for drinks."
