Nxala Ranch

Nxala Ranch is a working farm situated at the foot of the Biggars Mountain, some 45 kilometers from Dundee (in KwaZulu Natal), nestles amongst willow and paperbark trees in the tranquility of a lush, park-like garden. Nxala Ranch is situated in a malaria-free area.

Named for the elusive Mountain Reedbuck that roam the 4 000 hectares of mountains and green grassland, Nxala Ranch is your ideal breakaway.

  • "Location Location Location!"

    27 March 2017

"What a wonderful place ! The whole atmosphere at the Lodge and location was wonderful. The wildlife ie Zebra ,Giraffe Springbok etc was a real bonus for us and the chance to walk around the ranch was marvellous. The access road at 14km should not deter you from staying on the ranch. The road was in good condition and we had no problems in driving the road. We would highly recommend this Ranch for anyone wishing to experience the African way of life The host Dora and Franz welcomed us to their abode with welcome arms."

  • "Rorke's Drift stop-over"

    19 September 2016

"We stayed one night at Nxala Ranch as part of our quick visit to Rorke's Drift Art and Craft Centre. The Nxala Ranch accommodation is very comfortable, good quality linen and well equipped. We so enjoyed dining on the verandah with the fire nearby while we watched the full moon rise over the veld. The hosts are helpful, caring and welcoming without being over-attetive. We saw ostriches and impala, and lots of birds, even though our stay was so short and not focused on wildlife. Don't forget to visit and support one of South Africa's most important art and craft centres at Rorke's Drift! Several of South Africa's well-known black artists started out there and the ceramics, textiles and woven carpets sold in the Centre's shop are outstanding."

  • "Fantastic"

    21 September 2011

"Fantastic end to our holiday. Nxala Lodge was just perfect. As one guest said, "I thought I had died and gone to heaven." That sums it up very nicely. Book the Zebra Room if you can with lovely views over the lake and veld."
