de Alchemist Guesthouse
de Alchemist is a stunning guest house located in Franschhoek, the food and wine capital of South Africa.
During the spring of 2013, the owners of de Alchemist, Yves and Martine, decided to start a new adventure by opening a nice little caf in the old medieval town of Ghent, Belgium. They called it De Alchemist. Because the place was so popular, Adrian and Emma, their two youngest children, also started working at the bar and it became a beautiful family business.
On the wave of happiness and adventure, Yves and Martine took things one step further. During a short holiday in South Africa, they decided to buy a let-down bed and breakfast and started another big adventure. Thanks to the ideas of Martine and the hands of Yves, the guest house turned into a beautiful oasis of peace and quiet in the beautiful wine valley of Franschhoek.
The guest house has seven double rooms which all have their own bathroom. There is possibility for rooms to open up to each other, which is ideal for families with children. There is a television and free wireless connection in every room. The guest house has two charming swimming pools and a nice little bar. Breakfast is served every morning using the freshest local ingredients possible.
To top it all, de Alchemist is central to all attractions, and is just a walk away from various restaurants, wine tasting, chocolate factories, museums, a monument, shops and pharmacies.

15 December 2014"We had a great time. Photo's on Safari does not do De Alchemist justice as the place is much nicer than the photos reflect . Major renovations that was done does not reflect on Safari yet. Very centrally located, one small block from just about the centre of town.Rooms are elegantly furnished, clean and airy, pool and surrounding gardens is neat and tidy. Breakfast was great, the host was friendly and helpful, will most definitely return."

26 November 2014"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the staff of de Alchemist. Very polite and helpful. Room spacious, bed comfortable, linen and towels fresh and new. Everything worked. Bathroom spacious and stylish. Lovely to be able to sit outside by the pool and relax. Breakfasts were very good and varied. Could not have asked for better. We look forward to a return visit.
