The Elgin Grabouw Country Club Guesthouse

The Elgin Grabouw Country Club was founded in 1987 by passionate people who saw the potential of this magnificent setting and established it as a recreational sporting and social facility. The old managers house on the premises were no longer used for its intended purpose, so management decided to transform this perfectly situated building into a guest house. The Guest House is located in the Kogelberg biosphere region, which is rich in fauna and flora, situated on the edge of the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve in the Elgin Valley, only one hours drive from Cape Town. It has a genuine country feel with beautiful views of the lake, mountains and nature reserve, which contributes to the tranquil, family environment. This is a charming self-catering unit, sleeping six, consists of two bedrooms, a private bathroom, an open-plan living area with a fireplace and two extra single beds and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a sunny patio area with braai facilities available overlooking the cricket field, forest, maintains and dam.Grabouw is set in a lush green paradise with vast stretches of forests, orchards and vineyards. It is renowned not only for its apples and for fruit, but also for its wine and roses. Take a short drive to one of the beautiful farms for wine tasting or just for sightseeing. There are also cycling and hiking routes, which is very conveniently situated right next to the Club's premises. Other activities on the premises include, bass fishing, squash, tennis, rowing/kayaking and swimming.(Please note that due to the severe drought, all water activities in the Eikenhof dam have been suspended by the Water Users Association, until further notice.)

  • "None!!!"

"We only realised the following morning what a mistake it was having accepted this offer to stay over. The town of Elgin that one is forced to drive through - not only is it extremely dirty, but also unsafe. The accommodation was an annex of what is shown in the photograph - a converted garage."

  • "Refreshing break away"

    30 December 2014

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little cottage, even extending it by two days after realizing we didn't want to leave. The views are stunning, it is peaceful and green. Although it fronts onto the Club car park, it was relatively quiet and didn't cause us a problem. The staff were very helpful and it was clean and nicely furnished. It made for a very memorable and enjoyable Christmas."

  • "Beautiful"

    04 November 2014

"We enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse very much. The scenery is breathtaking. It's very quiet and beautiful. The guesthouse is very spacious and very well equipped. For a self catering holiday or weekend it is ideal. The only down side could be that there is only one bathroom and that the one room doesn't have cupboards."

  • "Quiet weekend away"

"Lovely self catering cottage with everything you could need. Beautiful location near the lake and surrounded by mountains and forests. Comfortable beds, great fireplace and braai area. The only thing that wasn't clear from the photos is that the country club is in front of the cottage so it is not as secluded as it looks."
