Set in a beautiful garden, and with a wonderful view of the Platberg, the house is full of history and character. Our only regret is that we only got to stay for one night!   "If you are looking for the best mix of traditional and eclectic in the Free State, this is it. From the minute we arrived, the welcome was genuine and warm. We enjoyed the superb views from the garden loungers of the mountains, and a fire in the bedroom after dinner. Such a treat. Rooms are amazing, full of artifacts, antiques and curiosities. Oil lamps were lit in the evening and we had a fabulous meal. Great service. Seemed a shame it was only a one-night stop."

  "After a long trip to the Free State, we stayed here en route to our home in Amanzimtoti. We felt welcome from the very first moment as the hosts were friendly and we were treated like royalty. We indulged ourselves in the historical trip in the old Chevy around Harrismith and were amazed how much interesting information there was to be shared about this "little" town! Sandra's delicious meals were of 5 Star quality, with a lovely home cooked taste and a definite air of sophistication. The "bits and bobs" that were found around the house and plot gave reminders of both new and old. The wrought iron works done by Hennie himself are very interesting indeed! The second oldest house in Harrismith was true to its original times in the themes throughout. Overall a lovely stay that did not burn a hole in our pockets but was honestly worth much more than we paid. Thank you Hennie and Sandra for priceless memories!"
