La Bastide

La Bastide is nestled at the foothills of the majestic Magaliesberg Mountains in the picturesque Skeerpoort Valley. Just minutes away from the Hartebeespoort Dam, this magnificent location is immersed in history and wildlife and offers a vast range of activities.

La Bastide means 'The Country House' in French and this resonates with the quaint architecture and the wholesome environment. The guest house and self-catering cottages are adorned with handcrafted furniture and original art and are set within tranquil gardens that form a tribute to the plant and birdlife.

The charming rooms and self-catering cottages are tastefully decorated, perfect for an overnight stay, weekend break or longer getaway. The year-round beauty of the surroundings makes La Bastide an attractive destination to spend winter evenings round the fireplace or summer days in the pool. We are also just a short drive away from all the major wedding venues in the area including Leopard Lodge, Green Leaves, Red Ivory, Pecan Manor and Die ou Pastorie.

We offer a breakfast basket made up by one of our top local restaurants, Die Ou Pastorie. These consist of: homemade muesli, yoghurt, fruit kebabs, cheese and cold meats, croissant, chicken liver pate’ or Snoek pate, Melba toast, homemade preserves and butter. They are R60 per person and can be delivered to your guestroom or cottage from around 8am onwards. They do need to be pre-ordered, so please give us at least 24 hours’ notice for your order.

    "At La Bastide you can enjoy beautiful views of the Magalies Mountain and forget about work and worries. The owners of La Bastide are very hospitable and can give you great advice on which trips to do. Also for our three kids, ages 11, 12 and 15 it was a great place to be. They enjoyed the small pool and played around with the owner's dog. Our son of 15 even said he did not miss his computer games for a second, which is a miracle. I understand that there will be Wi-fi shortly though. Location of La Bastide is great: close to a beautiful Big 5 Safari Park and other things to do, like hot air ballooning or golfing. If the view does not relax you, there is a beautiful spa around the corner. Compared to other places in the area, the prices at La Bastide are very good. Reason enough to recommend this guest house to everyone and start dreaming about our next trip from the Netherlands."
