Tropical Gardens Accommodation

Tropical Gardens ranges from luxury suite with air-conditioning and oval bath, to our semi-luxury rooms all with private entrances en-suite bathrooms and tea and coffee making facilities, to our back packer chalets, which both sleep six and have their own braai area and bathrooms.

We also offer evening meals and, for those who need to hit the road early, wonderful breakfast packs to our guests. Lodge has a communal lounge with DStv and fireplace where they can relax. A well-equipped communal kitchen, braai areas and potjiekos pots are available for those who like to prepare their own meals. We are fully licensed and alcohol may be bought by prior arrangement with management.

We do, however offer clean comfortable rooms and personalised service without the stiff formality of regular hotel or upmarket guesthouse. We only use biodegradable washing powders and soaps and have owned and managed the property for the past 11 years. We pride ourselves on the individual attention we can give every guest who stays with us. We offer good quality, warm and friendly accommodation in a country setting on a well-secured seven-hectare property. We also have a conference facility that can accommodate up to 300 delegates, a big screen TV 2.5 m x 2.5 m for big sporting events; we cater for special events functions, team building and weddings.

Elephants and giraffes do not freely roam the property and we do not have quad bikes, game drives or horse riding. You can experience all of those activities within half an hour or less from our property, entrance to an off-site resort with sparkling pools, river rides and super tubes, as well as picnic and braai facilities only 800 meters from the lodge.

We are located in the countryside in what has become Gauteng's playground to such an extent, that we are the second most visited tourist destination after the V and A Waterfront in Cape Town. The reason being is that our area offers cultural and historical experiences, nature scenes and wildlife, fun, sport and adventure activities, live entertainment and some 200 bars, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife to name but a few.

We are also only within a short pleasant country drive, which makes us very central and accessible. We are located next to the oldest mountain range in the world in a frost and malaria free environment, with great borehole water of bottling quality. Our locality is excellent to explore all that is to offer in and around Harties.

"I must say, I'm not one that usually gets along with many people on a first time basis, but the staff at Tropical Gardens was an absolute joy! We arrived Saturday afternoon and we ushered to our double room by Mark-a funny guy indeed, he set the tune for what was bound to come our way: PURE UNADULTERATED FUN!! My partner and I had our own "mini bon fire" while I guzzled down our celebratory drinks haha! Needless to say, we had fun. The rooms were clean and quite spacious. Points to work on: -The toilet had problems flushing down tissue paper. Lastly, we left before we had our breakfast (Mark forgot to leave our vouchers behind). Even though we had made our own arrangements for breakfast, such minor occurances should happen to paying clients. Looking forward to another visit-soon. Maybe a pool would be a nice addition?"

"Ek het betaal vir 'n borrelbad wat nooit in my kamer was nie. Ons bed is nie opgemaak of vuil skottelgoed is nie uit kamer verwyder nie. Toe ek eetgerei versoek is ek verwys na die vreeslike vuil kombuis waar ek myself moes help. Die yskas in die kamer was stukkend en vuil. Muise het 'n nes gemaak in die dak bokant ons kamer wat gesorg het dat hulle ons heelnag wakker gehou het. Ons was meegedeel dat ons eintlik die sleutel in die kamerdeur moes los, indien ons diens wou he. Ongeag van die persoonlike items in die kamer. Ten minste wat die baie honde, vriendelik."

"This is not a self-catering unit at all. Especially for families. No kettle and not coffee facilities in room. Although linen and bathroom was clean, we couldn't sleep at night due to noise from street. Bathroom is very small."
