Over The Mountain Guest Farm

Over The Mountain Guest Farm is situated in the secluded hamlet of Herold, set along on the famous Route 62, 30 minutes drive from either George or Oudtshoorn. The old Police Station, Post Office, Welsch House and House of Grace, have been converted into comfortable accommodation units while still retaining the historical feel that is synonymous with the area. There is space for up to 26 people spread across the three accommodation offerings. The surrounding Outeniqua Mountains give guests at Over the Mountain the opportunity to experience peace, tranquility and relaxation, or for the more adventurous, guests will be able to take part in the vibrant cycling, hiking, art and culinary culture that define this picturesque part of the South African landscape.

"We enjoyed the stay here. There are minor things but nothing hectic. My one thing is making it welcoming, a card or chocolates or warm on arrival, I know we arrived late after car problems. But we got called several times to see that we were safe!!! THANK YOU"

  • "A Little Disappointed"

    05 January 2017

"We had a double room with a really good quality bed and bedding but only one hand towel, no soap in bath/shower.(There were two bath towels)<br/>No fan. Dinner was very good and the hosts were really nice - BUT a little more is needed to make it worth the cost. Just small things but they are important. TV in the room might be an idea too."

  • "A beautiful stay"

"So glad we stayed here. The tiny village of Herold is a delight. Just at the top of the Montagu Pass and still on the R62. The room was very comfortable and to sit on the verandah and soak up the view was so relaxing, followed by a delicious meal cooked by Dave and Gail. The history of the buildings dating back to the 19th century is fascinating and the beautiful church well used by the surrounding farms is lovely. We will remember it well and hope to go back one day."
