Drakens View Bush Villa

Set under the Majestic Drakensburg Mountain Range in a wildlife estate, this self catering home is the ideal place for friends and families alike to get away to the African bushveld.

The house is positioned deep in the reserve and is home to a wide variety of wildlife ranging from the smallest lizard to the larger antelope. As the animals are classed non dangerous, families and friends can spend the early mornings walking through the reserve or for the more adventurous there are 7 mountain bikes available to experience the bush on the week. The rest of the day can be spent lazing at the private pool or at one of the attractions close by.

End off the day with sun downers at the bird hide watching the animals as they come to drink, followed by a bush veld braai (barbeque) at the Boma, where you can hear the African nightlife come to life.

There are several attractions in the immediate area including the Kruger National Park (Phalaborwa gate 58Km and Orpen Gate 50KM); Blyde River Canyon, Kapama Cheetah project; Camp Jabulani offering Elephant Safaris and over 100 Lodges offering Guide game walks and drives; 2 golf Courses (Hoedspruit 9 hole Gary Player Design and Phalaborwa 18 Hole Hans Merensky)

"We could not have asked for a better getaway. Cynthia is one of the most accommodating people I have met. She assisted immediately with any problems. The house is pristine and has more than everything you need. I highly recommend Drakens View Bush Villa."

  • "A natural paradise"

    20 June 2011

"266 Raptor's View (Drakens View Bush Villa) was a treat in all ways. I felt blessed having spent a weekend there. Healing, rejuvenating, relaxing and inspiring. The house felt like a home away from home, with the natural surroundings providing more than one could ask for. The design of the home also maximizes the elements of the outdoors, which is great. Clean and fresh, welcoming, generously equipped, and thoughtful touches makes this place special indeed. A few shortcomings included the fact that we couldn't access the bicycles upon arrival (my buddy spent almost all of the first night searching for a key to access the much looked forward to cycles), but this was sorted out the next morning and we were appreciative of the fun time cycling and being able to view animals while riding. Also, there was no communication to us regarding the fact that a maid would be in the house the morning after we checked-in (we did read that we could request a maid if so required, but since we hadn't we didn't expect anyone. It was quite surprising to find someone in the house in the morning). Another small shortcoming was the poor initial communication from the owners, which was vague to say the least. However, all of the positives and the thoughtful touches definitely far outweigh the shortcomings, and I would definitely recommend Drakens View Bush Villa to anybody looking for luxurious simplicity. Wish we could've stayed longer."

  • "Drakens View Bush Villa"

    08 October 2010

"This was the second time we stayed in the bushvilla at Raptors View Hoedspruit. But this time we stayed a month. We spend yearly some time at Raptors but this house made our stay even more enjoyable. It is an intimate house and plot with a lot of privacy and it felt as if the house was our own. We had a lot of animals on and near the deck, Nyalaas, cats, mongooses, genet, vervet monkeys, rockmonitors, a spotted bush snake etc. Even the wild dogs were very close to the house. We love the bush and will certainly come back in March or April 2011."

    12 July 2007

"Excellent lodge with lots of extras. Very comfortable and maid service excellent. What was really special was waking up at 2am to see a Giraffe munching a thorn bush just 3 feet from our bedroom window. He came again the next night - we hardly wanted to go to sleep! We will definitely be back and this time will use the bikes to cycle round the reserve."

"We had a wonderfully relaxing and comfortable stay in 266 Raptors View in March 2007.The house is beautiful and the setting is simply magnificent. We have never stayed in a self-catering house that is so well and generously equipped. The house was spotlessly clean, thanks to Linah the maid and the pool was very welcoming in the 42 degree heat!During our stay at 266 we saw Nyala, Impala, Kudu, Warthog, Giraffe, Side Striped Jackal and numerous colourful birds and lizards. We would thoroughly recommend a stay in this lovely home."
