King's Lodge Hotel

High up in the Amathole Mountains lies the quaint and picturesque village of HOGSBACK. A mountain hamlet set against the backdrop of the 3 Hogs mountain range and surrounded by forests of trees, so tall, that they seem to be kissing the edges of the sky and so other worldly that it is rumoured that it is where JRR Tolkien got his inspiration to write the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Tucked away within the womb of this magical utopia, surrounded by a cluster of trees and just a Unicorn gallop away from the centre of this village, the KINGS LODGE HOTEL rises in perfect harmony with its surroundings.

Draped in history and standing as a true testament to Mother Nature's natural beauty, the KINGS LODGE HOTEL possesses a rural countryside charm that rivals no other. From it's rustic 'log cabin' type natural exterior, to the warm and welcoming fireside charm of its idyllic homespun interior, it transports the spirit of all who cross its threshold, back into a forgotten time of wholesome living, warm hospitality and soul-inspiring tranquillity.
The KINGS LODGE HOTEL is the portal to the free reign of imagination, from where you can step out each morning and take your spirit on a fantasy ride of mystical wonder. Whether you choose to casually stroll along the many hiking trails on offer in Hogsback, or cool your feet in the refreshing mountain water of the rock pools at the base of one of the many waterfalls.

King's Lodge is a country hotel set in peaceful surroundings, offering cosy and comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome. The colonial homestead offers affordable accommodation in homely en-suite hotel rooms and quaint self-catering cottages.

Situated in the heart of the Hogsback, King's Lodge Hotel is the ideal base from which to take in all that Hogsback has to offer. Indulge in scenic mountain walks, explore the galleries and craft shops or visit the area's justly famous gardens with their stunning displays of rhododendrons and azaleas.
A wonderful getaway for all ages, Hogsback is both a rejuvenating and relaxing escape from the hum-drum of city life. The King's Lodge Hotel is your home away from home.

  • "Hideous!!"

    02 July 2016

"Old, dilapidated and filthy. So disappointing as was expecting so much more. The staff were also rude and I personally heard the manager swear at workers. The food was disgusting, the chef special was obviously defrosted on the plate. No need to say more because nothing will change!!!! Good luck to the next guest's."

Had 2 interleading cottages - Moonlight and Sunrise. Staff very friendly, had a lovely pub meal in front of a blazing fire... a family type place to stay."

This is a real homely hotel with the staff bending over backwards to accommodate all needs. Will surely be back soon and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Hogsback."
