"Ongelukkig n slegte ervaring gehad. Alles was baie netjies en skoon. Baie vriendelike ontvangs. Maar harde musiek en n kuiery tot 02h00 in die oggend in die restaurant was glad nie aangenaam nie. Van slaap was daar dus geen sprake tot amper oggend ure. Sal beslis nie weer ondersteun nie."

  • "Food for a king!"

    11 April 2016

"The tents are basic as one would expect. Clean and pleasant but very hot - a larger deck area to sit out the front will be a great addition. Ablutions spotless and adequate. At night the peace is somewaht spoiled by the noise from nearby houses and the mosquitoes are revenous and there are millions of them!<br /><br />The Rooi Spinnekop serves the most divine food! And at exceptionally good prices. We had a seafood buffet of calamari, prawns, crayfish and the most delicious fresh snoek I have ever tasted! Fit for a king. <br /><br />Well worth the poor gravel roads just for the food and genial hospitality alone!<br />"

  • "what a gem!"

"For those who are familiar with the West Coast and loves its charm ,this is a must see.It takes a bit of driving with a 80km of the track dirt road and a pass or two ,but at the end it is surely worth it.The hosts are warm and very accomodating and the food is top notch!<br />"

  • "Affordable - but take ear plugs"

    24 December 2015

"We stayed over for one night, it was a nice comfortable bed - absolutely nothing wrong with the accommodation itself, but the wind kept howling through the night which rattled the tent making it near impossible to sleep through.<div><br /></div><div>Everything else was great, friendly welcome and they allow pets.</div>"

  • "Indiviually, friendly and simply great"

    29 September 2015

"This is a beautiful and individual accomodation on the coast. Even though it was quite chilly when we got there, it was warm and very cozy under the blankets. The owners are very freindly, welcoming and heartly. We arrived quite late and it was getting dark. And even though we didnt sign up for dinner they still offered to put something together for us. But we wanted to cook inside the little kitchen-house so they phoned the shop to stay open for us because it was closing down. <br />The restaurant serves great traditional food!&nbsp; You can sit in your tents, or outside on the little deck, or just chat with the owners and other travellers over a beer or wine. A great place on the coast where you can also enjoy the flowerbeds in spring. All thumbs up to this welcoming, friendly and cozy place! <br />"

Skoon en netjies.Enigste puntjie was dat die restaurant toe was....vooraf is geseg dis oop en die kos lekker !Maar dis nie die ergste.Adequate and convenient facilities. Clean and neat. 09 September 2014

"Very disappointed. In middle of poor residential area in Hondeklipbaai. Noise at night with parties. beggars make it feel unsafe. Not for families. No proper seafood at restaurant. Potjiekos buffet. Stew. Could have stayed at home."

  • "Not good value for money"

    15 April 2013

"We had been before, but used our own rooftop tent. This time we slept in one of their tents. The first one (with a double bed) had a broken zip in front so they gave us another, 2 single beds. The perpendicular zips were fine, but the bottom horizontal never worked - we froze!! only given single duvet each. The kitchen is looking good as is very functional. The bathrooms look ok, but the water was not consistently hot. Very disappointed this time and not good value for money."

  • "No words"

    02 April 2013

"There is no words to explain how much we enjoyed the stay at Skulpieskraal. Friendly people that will go out of their way and if you are looking to relax, this is the place. The restuarant is also excellent."

  • "Simply amazing!"

    25 January 2013

"Anna-Marie and Laurence Van Vuuren are amazing hosts. The place is spotless, the food prepared by the two owners who also run the Rooi Spinekop Restaurant that is on site is fantastic. You have to visit Hondeklip Bay, it is stunning, make sure that you stay at Skulpiekraal yo will not be sorry. We will be going back soon!"

  • "Very disappointing"

    07 January 2013

"Overall, we were disappointed with the accommodation. The impression given online differs dramatically from the actual experience.Upon enquiry about having dinner at the restaurant, management rudely informed us that their preparations have already started and they won't accommodate us for dinner. We experienced none of the typical "West Coast Hospitality" at this establishment. We will not recommend Skulpieskraal to anyone."

  • "Enjoyed the stay"

  • "Good place"

    05 November 2012

"Excellent and nature at its best. Good place to rest and eat seafood and Namakwa lamb meat."

  • "Good all round package"

    09 September 2012

"Stayed at the Camp early september 2012 and ate at the restaurant . We are all over 60 years and we found the tents comfortable( as long as you bring a extra heavy blanket! as the nights are cold being so close to the Atlantic Ocean.) The camp is under new ownership of some six weeks and we found every tent and communal bath-toilet facility SPOTLESSLY clean. The restaurant also was for a west coast facility, immaculate and although they had sold out of some supplies at time of our visit , the dinner seafood meal especially the calamari, cooked by the owners from Sasolberg was the best we have tasted in years. Other than self catering accommodation, in that area of the west coast, there is nothing to compare the full service package that Skulpieskraal offer for a stay and meals ,the new owner/operator are most helpful with info, go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and you leave feeling its been a value for money unique experience. They also supply at the camp a well equipped kitchen for self catering purposes which adds to the attraction and there are Braai facilities at the kitchen area, for those lucky enough to have their own fish!"

  • "Enjoyed"

  • "Very nice"

    21 September 2011

"Dit is die oulikste plekkie! Atmosfeer was so rustig. Een van die netjieste kombuise en ablusieblokke wat ons in 'n baie lang tyd beleef het, en moenie praat van die Meintjies eienaars se vriendelikheid en gasvryheid nie. It was the sweetest place! Atmosphere was so peaceful. One of the neatest kitchens and ablution blocks we've experienced in a long time. Not to mention the friendliness and hospitality of the owners."

  • "Its a "have to go" destination"

    04 May 2011

"Absolutely fantastic! Dawn and Rob are wonderful people. Beautiful place, amazing experience."
