  • "A cold drink at the bar after travelling all day."

    22 August 2018

"It was good enough for us to stay two nights. Room was clean. Would suggest more crockery in the kitchen. We had one dinner plate for 2 people. The rest was adequate."

  • "Horrific experience"

    26 May 2016

"Our experience at Shemula lodge was horrific. The room was dirty with dead flies and cockroaches in the bathroom, sticky little stove, curtains that were falling off the rails, a aircon that had to be turned on nod off at the back of the building outside, the verandah ceiling had a huge broken gap, no chairs to sit on and no glasses. This place needs to be taken off your books. The whole place is dirty and unkept."

  • "Very good location"

    16 May 2014

"We stayed 4 nights at Shemula Logde. It's not very luxurious accommodation but everything we needed was there. A good bed, a good shower, a kitchen. It was very quiet but the place is excellent because of its location. We visited Ndumo NP (17km), the next day Tembe NP (only a few km away) and a day at the beach in Sodwana Bay. And we could have visited Kosi Bay as well. There is a Superspar nearby."

"Spent 5 nights camping at Shemula.Facilities adequate. Ablutions very clean and nice hot water. Staff extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Will go back as very centrally situated between the game reserves."

  • "A place in the bush"

    10 January 2013

"If you look for a fancy lodge with colonial atmosphere, don't go there. If you want a place in the bush to hang out and meet some really lovely, down to earth people who love the bush and care for nature, this is the place to go! The rooms are quite basic, but have everything you need and will be improved in the next months. There is a nice bar to sit, watch TV or talk to the people from the Lodge. We felt welcome from the very first moment. The staff is easy to talk to and everything is very relaxed. There is also the option on game drives to Tembe with a Landrover, which we really enjoyed. It's a great place from where to explore Ndumo and Tembe Game Reserves."
