• "No Stay"

    18 November 2017

"The Gate was locked and the phone number only a Mailbox. We slept in the Kroon Lodge in Kamieskroon. A very good alternative."

  • "That extra mile"

    08 October 2016

"Wow! I travel quite a bit and have to say the 7 days spent at Jeanrico Farm was brilliant. The scenery is absolutely amazing; so peaceful and quiet and the views are breath-taking. You have to go up the mountain just before sunset and experience the little piece of Heaven here on earth. My hosts went over and above the extra mile and I am so grateful to have met them. To Oom Ernest and Tannie Stella - hats off to the both of you. I am coming back and this will be my home away from home."

  • "Ideally positioned"

    26 September 2016

"We were looking for some accommodation near to the Namaqualand NP and this one is perfect. We stayed two nights so that we could also drive through the Kamiesberg. Rooms are basic but clean and the meals are wonderfully cooked by host Stella.Tea & coffee making facilities are nearby the rooms which are en-suite."

  • "Great Stay at the Farm"

    16 September 2016

"The stone cottage is a quiet rustic accomodation with perfect room and equipmnt for 2 adults. There is a spectacular view at mountains and a small lake. One could prepare meals in the kitchen, but then you would miss Stella's delicious cooking and her husbands most entertaining conversation at dinner and breakfast. The only disapointment was only 2 geckos showing up for a view moments..."

  • "Worst Value for Money of 3 weeks in SA"

    11 September 2016

"Thank God we only stayed one night here. Despite having booked months in advance we were told 'unconvincingly' on arrival that Safarinow had double booked our room and were shown to a sparse shabby room in the house attached by a sliding door to the noisy main kitchen behind. We were told 'unconvincingly' again that we could be driven into town to look for somewhere else or accept the room as paid in full. After a full day's drive from the Cederberg and being quite exhausted by 6pm and under the impression that the room was half price now we decided to stay as it was only one night.
The meal was home made and very nice but the place was filthy and plagued with moths crawling on the guests and their plates. Absolutely disgusting. We stayed in about 10 places on a trip around SA and even the most rudimentary places was cleaner than this! We shared the house bathroom with someone we could hear snoring past a separate access door.
The bedsheets smelled and the following morning we were quite shocked to be asked for the rest of the payment.
In comparison to the rest of the accommodations we had the privilege of staying in R800 per room per night is grossly overpriced for quality of service and facilities Jeanrico Farm offers.
I will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. It is well located for the Namaqualand flowers but seriously search for other options in the area for this price range."

  • "Avoid Stone Cottage!"

    01 September 2016

"SafariNow grossly misrepresents the info re this Guest Farm and specifically Stone Cottage, which we occupied.
Stone Cottage is NOT shown in ANY of the photos - there's a reason for this!
The swimming pool is BLACK and has not been in use for 3 years as per the proprietor.

Stone Cottage does NOT have 2 Queen beds. It has one double bed with very saggy foam mattress, one single bed and one very narrow base (only) of a sleeper couch - fit for an 8 year old, not an adult. The proprietor stated the cottage had never ever had two queen beds in it.
The cottage is ludicrously overpriced even with (basic but tasty) meals included.
If you do not appreciate sharing your accommodation and dining experience with geckoes running around walls and in the roof, with fresh gecko poop running down interior walls ... do yourself a favour and avoid Stone Cottage. SafariNow it is your responsibility to get your information and photos updated for this accommodation."

  • "Standard of Accommodation"

    29 August 2016

"I do not feel that I have received value for the money I've paid. The unit we've stayed in looked like a shack with electric cables all over the place. Paying R 800 per night not having proper bedding (mattress)(you feel like the hamburger patty in the middle of the bun) really not nice after a full day on the road. Must admit the hosts are friendly but like one reviewer said before - it does not make up for the price compare to what you get. No fridge No TV - You can make use of the fridge in the main house. If the rates were cheaper it would have been more acceptable. Dinner and Breakfast also very basic. Would not recommend. I also believe SafariNow need to advertise better and ensure that the adverts of the owners are more specific - also focusing on the things not stated by the owners i.e. No TV No Fridge"

  • "Relaxing rustic stay"

    13 August 2016

"A very pleasant and hospitable stay thank you."

  • "Something Different"

    03 August 2016

"An unforgetable experience in an old homestead with all the basic amenities. What makes it outstanding are the hosts creating a homely atmosphere that includes friendship and superb catering."

  • "Peter's Place"

    10 September 2015

"This was quite some experience. Not the modern five star type of place but the cottage had a wonderful setting next to the dam. The braai with strangers in the evening left us as friends the next morning. Breakfast was great and the host did everything to make the stay enjoyable. Very good value for money."

  • "Basic, homely accommodation"

    20 August 2015

"Beautifully situated farmhouse on the road to the Skilpad Reserve with lovely views and fascinating rock formations. Accommodation and food very basic and comfortable, but you have to be satisfied with absolutely no frills."

  • "AWESOME!"

    17 September 2014

"Seldom does one in life have the privilege of meeting and sharing a short part of your own life with the genuine people of our country. This soon became apparent with Ernest and Stella who run Peters Place, a simple, clean and welcoming stopover for 2 nights. Wholesome food, definitely not cordon bleu, but really good, with a twinkle in Stellas eye when I put the cumquat in and chewed! The request for home-made soup delivered with aplomb with home-made bread, top class.Oom Cornelius (owner of the farm) who shares the meals and chats around the fire, telling life stories, is a genuine SA gentleman who gives the most enduring of hugs, and knows the area history and roads like no other. To own a property of such staggering beauty can only be exulted by the kindness shared by these 3 people, and will definitely be on the list for any future visits to the area. Engage and enjoy SA treasures, as these folk are just that.Thank you.Guy & GillPort Elizabeth"

  • "Awesome"

    16 August 2014

"Thanks to Stella and Ernst for making this a truely remarkable experience. Their knowledge of the area coupled with their wonderful hospitality made this a stay that all of us will remember for a long time to come."

  • "Rustic"

    12 September 2013

"After a full day's travel on the dirt roads in the area and exposure to the unsophisticated homesteads around, we should have perhaps been more aware of what we had booked for. The farmstead is very rustic and basic and it took a little while to realise that we were far from the comforts often taken for granted. We learned the Peter had passed away the week before after a lengthy battle with cancer and Stella and Ernst were running the show. They were very friendly and because the accommodation included dinner (just as well as there's nothing else for miles around)as well as breakfast, the comfortable 'lounge' enabled friendly conversation among us and contributed to the stay being quite acceptable after all. This is a typical rural farm with generators and Gas and wholesome meals."

  • "Not good"

    11 September 2013

    "Not good."

  • "Unhappy"

    04 September 2013

"My colleagues was not happy. They had to share a bed because they booked our room to other guests."

  • "Bad service"

    03 September 2013

"The setting is exceptional, but the establishment is no where near 5 stars! Maybe 1 star.It was/is extremely unfortunate that Peter has been in CT since about June for chemo treatment. If we were enlightened, we would've looked for other lodgings. The friends who doubled for him, did their best, but they have no clue of what is expected of such an establishment."

  • "Lovely place"

    13 August 2013

"We loved our stay at Peter's Place. Our hosts - Stella and Ernest - were amazing. We were happy to be very close to Namaqua National Park since we wanted to check out the wildflowers. The farm on which the B&B is located is lovely, quiet and so quaint. We especially loved gazing at stars and the Milky Way on the large rock behind house, and watching the goats nibble away at the garden as we ate breakfast."

  • "Very nice"

    05 August 2013

"Very nice and homely. Peter was unfortunately not there when we stayed over due to medical reasons. The couple that was there to help him out was lovely though and took good care of us. I would definitely go stay there again when travelling between Windhoek and Cape Town."

  • "Unexpected experience"

    17 April 2013

"Peter's Place is situated nearby the small village of Kammieskroon. We used this place for an overnight stay on our way to Namibia, and I was a kind of surprised. There is no light in the night time, just a generator that brings some electricity in the evening. The place is very rustic. But Peter managed it to make us feeling like home. We had a wonderful home made dinner together with his friends and long nice chat at the fireplace. Actually unforgettable! If you like plane fair and a rustic atmosphere for a change, you will enjoy your time at Peters Farm."

  • "Nesting spoonbills"

    14 October 2012

"We were welcomed warmly to Peter's Place and were shown to the gorgeous Stone Cottage overlooking the farm dam. On the dam was a spoonbill nest with mama overseeing the eggs. We were delighted! The cottage is comfortably rustic. Bedding good, but matresses a little saggy. Meals were excellent. We will be back."

  • "Thank you"

    02 October 2012

"Complete escape - relaxed and a 'different' experience. To be recommended!"

  • "Memorable stay"

    01 October 2012

"Although only given 2 stars it was a memorable stay but not sure everyone will enjoy it."

  • "Een ster weelde en 4 ster gasvryheid"

    30 September 2012

"Die uniekheid van hierdie plek is om met die mense kennis te maak wat daar bly en die wat saam met jou kuier. Moenie weelde verwag nie, maar geniet die gasvryheid en die pragtige natuur."

  • "Feels like a home"

    25 September 2012

"We went to Peter's place for viewing flowers. We enjoyed more than what we excepted. Very good accommodation, feel like home. We enjoyed the Braai with Peter and friends."

  • "Overnight at Peter's Place"

    11 September 2012

"What a wonderful experience. Peter is a fantastic host and as you walk in you feel at home. Lovely chatting to all the guests around the braai that Peter provided. Very sorry we did not stay longer. We need more places like this in SA. Thanks again to Peter for our best stay of our holiday."

  • "Great stay"

    02 September 2012

"We had a great stay there - very hospitable and friendly. The farm environment is also great - lots of flowers all around the house and in a beautiful setting - huge granite hills all around."

  • "Accommodation for viewing flowers"

    01 September 2012

"Clean farm accommodation. Peter is a most attentive, friendly host - spent two evenings on the farm, the second one having a braai meeting some of the local people. The surrounding mountain scenery is stunning and we were lucky enough to see the Namaqua National Park in absolute floral splendour! Amazing. Best along all the West Coast."

  • "Peter's Place"

    27 August 2012

"Very basic but quite adequate. Nice guy. Directions need to be updated."

  • "The eye in the storm"

    14 August 2012

"We came for the flowers but got drenched with showers. Peter entertained us for a day in his lounge and made us feel very relaxed and at home which enabled the lost day to pass by almost unnoticed. The farm is beautiful, a hikers playground, and access to the national park is easy. We stayed in the stone cottage which unfortunately had a problem with hot water. Bedside lamps would also have been nice. These are things that I am sure will be rectified and make the price of R400 pppn a better deal."

  • "Great hospitality"

    14 July 2012

"We stayed here en route to and from Namibia. The accommodation is basic but clean. The hospitality was great - warm welcome, and good home cooking. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a simple homely stay. It was great meeting you Peter. We wish you success!"

  • "Working farm"

    09 May 2012

"The farm is beautiful and a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the sunset after a day's car travel. Peter is a very friendly welcoming host. The farmhouse is 172 years old, rustic and comfortable. All one's needs are met but if you want cotton sheets and mod-cons this is not the place for you. We would definitely stay again if we travelled that way."

  • "Enjoyed our stay!"

    22 March 2012

"We really enjoyed our one-night stay at Peter's Place! Old fashioned charm, and so comfortable. Hospitality was great - nothing to beat sitting around the fire under starry skies and chatting. The setting is lovely, you feel so remote and close to nature. Thank you for making our stay so special, Peter!"

  • "A peaceful retreat"

    27 February 2012

"Great place to stay - off the beaten track and with a welcoming feeling. Peter made the stay special by having a braai which included the owner/farmer in his 80s and some local friends. There isn't anywhere local to eat out so it made a great way to spend the evening. All our needs were met with warmth and friendliness."

  • "Warm rustic welcome"

    06 October 2011

"Warm welcome from the two Peters. Rather rustic with clean, comfortable beds and a hot shower. What else is required for a one-night stop-over on a long journey. Wish we had stayed longer and explored the area more. Watch out for the boisterous dogs!"

  • "Loved it"

The rooms were simple but spacious and clean with hot water. We would definitely stay there again."
