Vulamanzi is situated at Kelso on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast and offers surfers, kite boarders, divers, and fishermen comfortable accommodation in elevated wooden cottages with awesome sea views.
VulaManzi, the place of open water, is an African fortress located on the beach; an organic retreat where the ocean and jungle surge up to meet each other. Tucked inside a jungle-like hideaway, we offer the essential South African experience for anyone wanting to get away from it all and reconnect with their roots. There are five elevated air-conditioned wooden cabins. The main cabin sleeps eight and has two bedrooms containing one double bed and three bunk beds, and there is a lovely lounge, a fully-equipped kitchen, and private balcony.
Three four- to five-sleeper cabins are open-plan with different combinations of double, single, and bunk beds. All have a sleeper couch, fully-equipped kitchen, private balcony, and private shower and toilet downstairs. One two-sleeper cabin is a delightful little unit with a double bed, small kitchenette, private balcony, and shower and toilet downstairs. Linen is provided, guests just need to bring their own towels and dishcloths. The cabins all have TV and satellite points and guests are welcome to bring their own TV and decoder. Laundry facilities are available with commercial coin operated washing machine and tumble-dryer, and each cabin also has its own barbecue facility and grid.
Our tented camp is a three-sleeper with two single beds and a sleeper couch. The tented camp is erected on a wooden platform with verandah and is equipped with a fridge and kitchen unit with all accessories. Linen for the tented camp is provided and there is a shower and toilet close by. We also have a communal meeting area which includes darts and dart board, use of the private bar with limited hours, volley ball area, swimming pool, and trampoline. Each elevated cottage has a verandah where you can relax and enjoy the view of the ocean, or if you are not afraid of heights, you can relax on one of the view decks and watch dolphins and whales, or you may even glimpse our resident turtle. There is also a chill out area under the main cabin where you can enjoy a few sundowners or gather around the braai and talk about who caught the wave of the day, or the catch of the day.
The renowned Aliwal Shoal lies just offshore and is rated as one of the top diving sites in the world. The area is alive with cultural heritage, and you can still feel the thick, rich pulse of the Kingdom of the Zulu permeate everywhere you go.
