Tweerivier Game Lodge

Tweerivier Game Lodge is based on private game property in northern South Africa, in the wildlife paradise of the Limpopo Province. Only four hours drive north of Johannesburg and 80 km west of Ellisras, this family owned and privately operated lodge offers the perfect wildlife holiday destination for the outdoor enthusiast. The area is malaria-free and closely located to the world-renowned Madikwe, Marakele, and Pilansberg Game Reserves. The lodge serves as an ideal stopover en route to Botswana, through the nearby Stockpoort border. The farm is easily accessible on tar roads until 40 km north from Thabazimbi, from where the last 70 km is a well maintained gravel road. The highlight of your stay however, will be the extensive wildlife and flora that can be viewed from the comfort of your very own African veranda or by taking a game drive into the wide expanses of this beautiful African farm.Self-catering holidays are taken to the next level by the lodge's unique dcor. Old natural resources from the surroundings were crafted into usable and practical dcor items, but remains individual natural works of art.Tweerivier Game Lodge offers self-catering accommodation for up to 24 guests in total, or three separate groups. Accommodation is offered in the Boomhuis/Treehouse or the Tent Camp. The Boomhuis is a unique and luxurious two-bedroom house built around a Hardekool tree and offers a sense of nature from the comfort of your own room. The Boomhuis is located 4 km from the main entrance and is within walking distance from both the riverbank and a small natural wetland, allowing for fantastic bird-watching.The Tent Camp is a two-storey structure of canvas and mortar, with unique personal detailing to all finishes. Built around an open entertainment area, nightly bonfires are best enjoyed with a drink in hand, and the splash pool can be enjoyed at any part of the day. A separate structure allows for game-viewing and bird-watching, and has a built-in braai area. Our 700-hectare farm offers partly dry western bushveld terrain that is typical of southern Botswana. Located on the banks of the Limpopo River, one can also experience the special riverine forest. The property boasts a wide variety of plains, game and has no dangerous predators. What Tweerivier Game Lodge offers most of all is to enjoy nature and wildlife in serenity.Activities include something for the adventurous at heart, as well as something for the laid-back, leisurely type. Since the wildlife is not camped off, they are free to roam all over, including your doorstep; game viewing can be enjoyed by hiking through the veld via little footpaths created by the wildlife, by quad biking, from horseback with a partner, or by taking our unique game viewing truck. Horseback riding can be enjoyed by riding to the riverbanks or on the open grass plains. Take a leisurely cruise on the boat and revel in the majestic splendour of the Limpopo River. See birdlife in abundance and enjoy the quiet presence of crocodile and hippos in their natural habitats. Fishing from the banks of the Limpopo can be enjoyed during the rainy season, while star-gazing is a must for anybody with a keen interest in the great unknown.

  • "Most Amazing Holiday EVER"

    09 January 2017

"The facilities at the Tree House at Tweerivier compete on an equal footing to those we have experienced across the globe. The hosts are amazing. Extremely knowledgeable on the fauna and flora and go out of their way to share. Never intrusive. Just the perfect level of host/guest interaction. Noeline and Ampie truly embody the very essence of what you hope to receive from hosts at a bushveld lodge. We seldom ever repeat visit a place out of principle. But have decided in this instance to make an exception. We loved every minute and will definitely return. Have already recommended the Tree House at Tweerivier to all of our friends. The wildlife variety is on par with what you would find/see at Kruger. With the bonus that they come to you. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it... K&S"
