Puschka Farm

Puschka is a pet-friendly life-style farm situated in the beautiful Naauwpoort Valley, in the foothills of the majestic Magaliesberg mountain range. The Hex river winds its way through the valley and farm. It is an ideal place to enjoy nature and for bird watchers the bird life is prolific. The Vodacom & Cell C reception is good but the MTN is poor.

The farm offers three beautiful self-catering units; Puschka House, Puschka Writers Cottage & Puschka Stone Cottage. The Writers & Stone Cottages are ideal for couples wanting a quiet and/or romantic get-away. Puschka House is more suited to families and friendly get-togethers.

PUSCHKA HOUSE is located on the opposite side of the river to the main farmhouse, amongst large gum trees giving it a typical South African farmhouse feel. The house is spacious with 4 bedrooms and can sleep a family or a group of eight people with 3 bedrooms with queen size beds and one bedroom with 2 single beds.
The four bedrooms lead off the living area and share two bathrooms and a separate toilet. The living and dining area has a fireplace and is equipped with a TV with DStv. The large kitchen has an old fashioned wood burning stove for cold winter nights.
Guests can relax on the stoep while enjoying a braai or cool down in their own plunge pool. Puschka House is let out as a single unit.

PUSCHKA WRITER'S COTTAGE is on the same side of the river and has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room with a wood burning fireplace , a small well equipped kitchen and eating area , & a bathroom with a shower. Outside is a natural plunge pool and a stoep with adjacent braai ( barbeque) area. The cottage is 'off the grid' & has a 12v lighting system with a small inverter for charging cell phones & laptops.

PUSCHKA STONE COTTAGE is on the opposite side of the river to the other two cottages & is about 100m from the main farmhouse. It has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room with a wood burning fireplace , a small well equipped kitchen , & a bathroom with a shower and bath. Outside is a natural plunge pool and a stoep with a braai ( barbeque) area under the trees. The cottage is 'off the grid' & has a 12v lighting system with a small inverter for charging cell phones & laptops.

While visiting Puschka Farm, why not climb up to the top of the hill for incredible views of the valley. Many of our guests have their 'sundowners' up there while sitting on the rocky outcrops and taking in the view. There are also a couple of picnic spots along the river.

    03 April 2018

"I was very disappointed and left the same day. Never stayed over. I will not recommend the place to anybody. I will not pay more than R200 per night. And I felt very unsafe."

  • "Amazing stay for a relaxed weekend"

    14 October 2017

"We really enjoyed staying at Puschka Farm. We had such a relaxed weekend, surrounded by nature and animals. The splash pool is beautiful and refreshing, the hikes and picnics were amazing, the people so friendly and helpful. I can really recommend this venue if you are looking for a relaxed and secluded weekend out of Joburg."

  • "Lovely stay"

    18 August 2017

"We had a lovely midweek stay. The house is basic, but comfortable and has all you need. Our dogs enjoyed the big lawn and walks on the farm. The staff came to check in once a day to see if there is anything we need, and we even got a picnic basket delivered with fresh muffins and treats. The lovely fireplace kept us warm and cost. We will be back."

  • "The tranquility"

    05 June 2017

"The rooms were a bit gloomy. Could do with some newer, brighter furniture and accessories"

  • "The tranquility of puschka writers cottage"

    28 May 2017

"If you feel like the hustle and bustle of the city is overwhelming and you need to reconnect with nature and love this is the place to go. Loved every minute of our stay. Lovely hosts! Fur-kids loved the freedom but a definite highlight was the off the grid system of being self sustained, romance of a fire and connecting with the beauty of nature at its best!"

  • "Family gettaway"

    13 October 2015

"<p>Stayed at Pushka Farm with family for the weekend. Firstly, I had to beg for the owner to send me accommodation confirmation.Only when I threatened to goelsewhere did I get the confirmation. I should have got a hint. Not what I expected. The place is fairly cleanBUT we had to kill lots of spiders in the cottage, kids were very scared on the first night. Far from everything else. Only met with one owner (Peter)on our arrival and that was it. Struggled with hot water, on Saturday I had to use the kettle for us to bath, on Sunday we made fire ourselves to get warm water. this was not communicated to us.</p><p>You need a 4x4 to get there and have all the supplies you going need for your trip because this place is far from everything. </p><p>I will not visit again!</p><p>The place has lots of potential but it is neglected!</p><p></p>"

  • "Puschka Bush Cottage"

    02 February 2015

"Beautiful cottage in the bush. The only inconvenient thing is that we had to collect the key in Magaliesburg. We were travelling from Lichtenburg and had to add another 120kms to our trip, this was not mentioned when we booked the cottage."

  • "Great, peaceful escape!"

    20 October 2014

"We loved our weekend at Pushka Farm in their Bush Cottage. It was in the middle of the bush, which was fantastic! A nice escape from our busy lives, with no cellphones/internet connections (and no chargers, so we had NO excuse to use our phones!). We enjoyed our walks around the farm, and waking up to the sounds of birds! We'll definitely be back in the near future!"

  • "Great place!"

    08 September 2014

"Had a wonderful weekend. We loved every minute. Warm, friendly owners, warm, friendly Ngunis, serenity, birds. Highly recommended."

  • "Weekend getaway"

    02 September 2014

"We had a lovely stay and would definitely like to go back. The staff were friendly and helpful. The unit wasn't as clean as it could have been and is within earshot of the staff accommodation which meant on Sunday we heard talking and music all day long (which took away from the peace and quiet we so otherwise enjoyed). One last thing, the directions on the map we were given are not clear enough. All this said, it is a lovely place and we hope to return soon. Alison Herbert and Bernice Hynard"

  • "Puschka Cottage - what a gem!"

    10 March 2014

"Just returned from a wonderful weekend to Puschka Cottage near Magaliesburg. We were looking for a place to accommodate our large family and Puschka Cottage turned out to be perfect. Very peaceful and tranquil in a little valley in the mountains, surrounded by trees and birds. The cottage is a little bit rustic, but very comfortable and the own pool and privacy, being far away from other dwellings, added something very special.Beware, no MTN cellphone reception although I understand there is Vodacom and Cell C there. Also we didn't realise there was a stretch of dirt road to get there - thankfully my BMW 3 series made it without any problems. The owners were also very friendly and helpful - thanks very much.If you are looking for a quiet breakaway, look no further than Puschka Cottage"

  • "Nice"

    19 December 2012

"We enjoyed our stay at the puschka farm, though i think the keys shouldnt be collected that far,and boards should be put on the side of the road for directions to be easier, but the place was nice everything was in place and the friendly staff members."

  • "What a great place"

    09 November 2012

"If you want a quiet, peaceful holiday then this is the place. We had so much fun. It was great for the kids to get back to nature and there is plenty to do around the area. The staff were fantastic, a big thanks to Anna for all her help. We will be going back soon."

  • "Romantic getaway"

"The place was just what me and my husband needed. It was very peaceful, we had all the privacy we needed. The staff members were very helpful and nice. • "Puschka Cottage"

    13 August 2012

  • "Puschka Farm"

    28 June 2012

"Linda gave us a friendly welcome. If you want to get away this is the place. There is a nice fireplace and antracite stove which was great because of the cold evenings. We were amazed by the "donkey" heating the geyser. You are very private and the views are exceptional. Linda also gave us organic eggs which tasted very nice. I am still looking for the new Bush Lodge and could not find it. I can reccomend this place to everybody. I will definitely go back to this one."

  • "Amazing stay!"

    18 June 2012

"We had a fantastic time at Pushka Cottage. On Friday night we got horribly lost on the way and the owners were extremely helpful! When we eventually got there the cottage was perfect and the view amazing. We will definitely be staying there again."

  • "Enjoyed"

    10 April 2012

"Enjoyed our stay except the youngsters in our group who expected Puschka House to be on the farm itself, close to the farming activities and animals and not so isolated. This should be stated on the website. The access road is atrocious and should be mentioned on website."
