Karoo Cottage McGregor

This thatched self-catering guest cottage in the Western Cape village of McGregor offers a charming and romantic getaway for couples. Set separately in a beautiful, shady, private garden on the main property of hosts, Rob and Cher Graham, it offers guest privacy and tranquility.

The open-plan cottage features a comfortable queen-size bed with mosquito net, an old-fashioned wood burning Dover stove fireplace for winter warmth, a cosy sitting area with good lighting for romance or reading, a well-equipped kitchenette with microwave and oven and a bathroom with bath but no shower. A sheltered outdoor shower with hot water is available for guest use.

Karoo Cottage is not equipped with a TV but has a good CD player and a selection of CDs for some background music. Complementary WI-FI is available.

Shady nooks in the garden for reclining, reading or some entertaining bird watching and an inviting salt water pool are yours to enjoy.

Being a village with some good eating places and pubs and just 20 minutes drive from Robertson and the surrounding wine estates, there is no shortage of places to visit, however if complete rest is the order of the day, stay in and braai in the secluded open braai area alongside the cottage or Weber on the patio. (Please bring your own charcoal or briquettes. Wood is available from your host at an additional charge. And please note that if you are self-catering it is recommended that you shop before arriving in McGregor.)

"All home comforts provided and owners went out of their way to be friendly, helpful, yet unobtrusive. Many extra miles were traversed by the owners - even details about the latest art-house movie being shown in the town."

"What an inspired choice Karoo Cottage turned out to be for our first trip to the sleepy hamlet of McGregor!<br/><br/>We arrived in pouring rain and left two days later in glorious sunshine, but in both conditions Karoo Cottage proved to be just perfect! It is immaculate and beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and has access to a braai area and the stunning garden that the hosts have lovingly created outside their main home. <br/><br/>Hosts, Rob and Cher are lovely people who are very attentive and helpful, without being intrusive. <br/><br/>Whenever we return to McGregor, Karoo Cottage will definitely be top of our list to stay again!<br/><br/>"

"<p>Rob and Cher are the perfect hosts at Karoo Cottage. They did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.<br></br></p><p>Guests have access to a delightful garden with braai area and pool. The room itself has everything you need. The kitchen has more items for use than I have ever encountered in a self-catering facility.<br></br></p><p>The Karoo Cottage is 5 - 10 minute walk away from almost everything you would possibly want to do in McGregor.<br></br></p><p>We will certainly return.<br></br></p><p ></br></p><p>&nbsp;</p>"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at Karoo Cottage. The cottage was immaculately clean and is more than fully equipped for self - catering. The extra touches makes the stay even more special. We enjoyed the tranquillity of the garden and the beautiful surroundings. We found that the hosts, Rob and Cher, went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. We definitely plan to stay there again!"

"Karoo Cottage in McGregor was such a pleasure to stay in. It is central and you can walk to almost anywhere in the town. My husband took part in the MTB race Ride2Nowhere and the location was perfect, off the main road.Garden was wonderfully tranquil with such beautiful bird life and welcome silence. The Temenos Restreat Centre is just a block away and such a blessing to visit. Cher and Rob were wonderful hosts and we will definitely be back!Zuzanka."
