"Loved the campsite - one of the best we've been to. Loved the walks and all the unusual accommodation (Kannidood was incredible)! Super special time!!! Would have been good if staff had remembered to restock toilet paper in bathroom and also remembered to give us the info file on arrival, but they were all SO friendly that all is forgiven!"

  • "Thabaphaswa Camping Stay"

    07 January 2015

"The camping was very relaxing although in December with rains around kept one to the tent. The place being very quite during the day, beside the "mannetjie Bobbejaans" sending their occasional territorial "boggoms" from the "koppies" for every one to hear. The feathered friends all did their best to get one up very early each morning, to enjoy the start of each day."

  • "Camping"

    17 June 2014

"Absolute solitude. We had the best rest ever with virtually no noise except the birds and the cattle (once a day). The scenery is magnificent especially the views out from Look Out Point on the neighbouring farm. One can only but relax"

  • "Great!"

    20 January 2014

"What an experience! We (my wife and I) spend 5 wonderful days at Thabaphaswa during December 2013. We stayed at the Drunken Parrot Camp Site just us, a toilet and water tap. We devised a bucket shower and felt one with nature during bathing times! Although we are not regular walkers, we had long walks every day (5 to 6km) without realizing that we were exercising. After the first 3 days of walking with the added benefits of clean air, no noise pollution and peaceful nights we felt revised and reformed. We did the foefie slide and cooled off in the cement dam.At night we sat around a wooden fire and watched the bush change from day to night. The moments silence in between had as in awe every time! And then the stars became visible and you get the distinct feeling that you can touch them.We did a 16km walk the last day and left with a sense of renewed energy and vowed to be back soon.Thank you to our hosts, Deon and Ankie Richter, for allowing us to share in the experience."

  • "Rustic, quiet and beautiful"

    06 January 2014

"This place is just magic! As long as you don't mind showering in the rain and going to the loo under open skies, your experience here will be amazing! It is quiet, the campsites are private, shady and well-selected. The staff and management are friendly and helpful. Little bonuses like a stone fire-pit, flattened areas for your tent, and a washing up station for dishes make the whole experience just that little bit easier. We will without a doubt be back again and again!"

  • "Tranquil and secluded"

    15 July 2013

"We had a great stay. It was exactly what we needed, a weekend away from all the television, mall's and busy schedules. A brunch on at the look-out was very romantic and the scenery great."
