Keisie Cottages

William and Karin welcome you to Keisie Cottages, cosy farm holiday self-catering mountain cottages on a beautiful fruit and wine farm in the Keisie Valley, 20 km outside of Montagu. Our farm is just below the world famous tractor ride on Protea Farm.

Keisie means Pretty Water in San, and the Keisie Valley is renowned for the flavour and quality of its fruits and wines.

The farm is called Vredendal, which means Peace in the Valley and it certainly is very peaceful here. We grow grapes, quinces and gooseberries and in season you can pick and eat straight from the trees, or watch us harvesting.

We have a lovely swimming pool with a wooden deck and gazebo, surrounded by two hectares of roses .(SWIMMING POOL CLOSED DURING MONTHS OF JULY AND AUGUST 2019) Stroll around our herb garden and help yourself to herbs for your salad or potjiekos. Try our home made jams. A real farm stay close enough to Montagu to enjoy the Hot Springs and wine routes and wonderful restaurants that Montagu has to offer, as well.

There are lovely hikes, including a lovely hike to our rock pools (very rough) and paths that can be used for mountain biking. The mountain views are stunning.

We have TWO charming restored farm cottages, close to each other, Each cottage is a quaint, cosy environment with a traditional fireplace to ward off those chilly Cape winter nights. All linen provided.

The Keisie Valley is the perfect retreat. There is no cell phone reception and there are no TVs in the cottages. Towels are provided. Your chance to introduce your kids to the real world. They can hike, bike, or just play outside!

  • "Beautiful place to get away from it all"

    18 November 2018

"The cottages are very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is clear that a lot of care and attention has gone into preparing the accommodation as the attention to detail is excellent. The location is nothing short of stunning, the farm itself is surrounded by magnificent mountains and the lack of cell phone reception lets you really take it in. The pool is a welcome relief in the heat of summer. Although we did not meet the hosts we had everything we needed and it was easy to stock up on wood etc. Could have happily stayed for much longer, and hope to visit again soon in the not too distant future."

"Loved the quiet, sunsets, swimming pool, cumfy couch on the stoep, mostly well equipped kitchen, lots of roses and other flowers dassies playing in the rocks, tractor going about its business and entertaining the little kids, friendly host.To improve : a pair of kitchen scissors would be lovely! Oiling the door hinges would be nice."

  • "Post Christmas break with family"

    18 January 2018

"choosing Gooseberry House was the best thing we could have done the house is lovely with so much space, bedrooms are large with good quality duvets, pillows and bed linens, the kitchen is excellent with a full size cooker, huge refrigerator and plenty of storage space, the kitchen was fully equipped with numerous pans and plenty of crockery, the garden at the house is lovely as is the beautiful rose garden next to the pool - wonderful roses of many hues and perfumes, the pool was enjoyed by the youngest member who would have been happy to stay in the pool for ever did wander around the vegetable and herb growing area which was very interestingit was great to have such a lovely sized family table in the braai area this was very well used by us - perfectmany birds visited and as the garden has so many different types of flowers and shrubs it will attract many varieties of birdsa lovely stay in a beautiful setting - thank you for sharing this with us"

  • "Boomslang"

    18 December 2017

"On Friday evening from 5pm to 7: 30 pm we were unsettled by the presence of a Boomslang that was after birds nests in the verandah roof despite the attention of 2 Cape Robins and a local who chased it away.It reappeared again later and disappeared onto the roof maybe the creeper around the roof needs to be removed so that it is not so snake friendly."

  • "A beautifull and peacefull spot"

    13 November 2017

"We loved Fig Tree cottage, with flowers and trees shading the stoep. The rooms are comfortable and pleasing. The attention to detail is quite special. Matches and firelighters for the braai and other little touches that show that Pauline cares about the guests. The pools was welcome as it was hot the first day and night. It was a pity that a veld fire had come quite close to the cottages a few weeks before we were there. We really enjoyed the place and have no hesitation in recommending Keisie to other people."

  • "Keisie cottage"

    21 February 2017

"Pauline and Tbys Boucher, have an amazing place and youre surrounded by splendid views of nature. The atmosphere that surrounded us, was absolutely fabulous. The weekend was not once a waist of our money or our time. The calmness of that place is really something people should try. The best part of it all is the colour green and the sounds of birds that woke us in the morning. We truly enjoyed our stay and won't mind going there again."

  • "I did not want to leave"

    29 December 2011

"The cabin was rustic, the shower worked and the beds were comfortable. I needed a microwave, so was given one. I loved the stable-style door - the top half opened to a view, and the bottom closed to keep out curious dogs and wandering geese. It was so peaceful, I could have stayed forever."

"We had a wonderful time thank you, it was just so beautiful and peaceful, in fact a perfect place to recharge the old batteries, so as to face the last month of 2010’s onslaught. The weather was good to us too and that lovely pool was just glorious to cool down in. Definitely will recommend it to our friends and families."

  • "Relaxing weekend"

    20 March 2006

"Great place for a getaway. We would have loved to have stayed longer and maybe helped out on the farm. We took our two dogs with us and they thoughly enjoyed their stay, epecially going walking with Aqua and swimming.Toni and Mike are great hosts and very friendly. The cottages are quite close together (three in a row) so its not as private as we thought. However this was not a problem even though all the cottages were booked out during our stay. We did not notice the neighbours and if going away in a group the setup would be perfect. The dam is more a small pool but was great to dip into after a hike. The surrounding area is full of things to do and we took full advantage of the wine tasting and hiking (where dogs were allowed). We would stay again.

Reply from Toni'It's a pleasure having dogs when they are well-behaved and friendly like these were. The reason why they never noticed the neighbours was because we have screens in between the cottages. If one really wants privacy then Keisie Cottage is all by itself and has a large stoep with beautiful views of the valley. We encourage people who want peace and quiet.'ThanksToni "
