Waterbessie Lodge is located in the scenic village of Mtunzini, in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal. Mtunzini offers all the comforts and facilities of a world-class holiday town, along with a reputation for the finest leisure facilities. Waterbessie Lodge is a 10-minute walk to the main beach and a five-minute drive to the beautiful lagoon, nature trails and golf course. Sea View.Mtunzini is 20 minutes' drive from the big industrial cities of Empangeni and Richards Bay, where cinemas, pubs, excellent restaurants and shopping malls are available. Durban is one and a half hours' drive away, and the new international airport can be reached in the same time. Waterbessie Lodge was built in 2006, with emphasis on space, quality and ambience. The lodge consists of four fully contained units, each comprising two en-suite bedrooms, a lounge and a fully equipped kitchen for those wanting to cater themselves. Every unit also features air-conditioning, satellite TV, a sound system and Internet access. Choose a whole self-contained unit or only a room, catered or self-catered.

"Lovely place, disappointing experience"

"Waterbessie Lodge is a lovely property with an exquisite view of Mtunzini. Unfortunately, though, our experience was disappointing due to a number of factors. Firstly, when we arrived, nobody was present to let us in. It took over an hour for the owner to arrange somebody to meet us, give us keys, and let us in. Secondly, the unit - which is supposed to be a non-smoking unit - stank badly of cigarette smoke. Beyond that, the bathrooms had obviously not been properly cleaned, there were not enough towels provided, and the kitchen was under-equipped for a self-catering unit. Apart from those negative aspects, the place is actually a great property. The pool, trampoline, and DSTV kept the kids entertained, and the surrounds in which the lodge is situated are really beautiful. A little extra attention to good housekeeping and professional service could turn this place into a great resort."

"We enjoyed our visit to Mtunzini (a delightful, small and clean coastal town) and to Waterbessie Lodge. The accommodation was very comfortable (especially the leather lounge suite and everything we needed was available. We stayed self catering and found the Lodge excellent value for money. However the statements "10 min walk to the beach" and "180 degree ocean views" are misleading."

"Waterbessie Lodge was really amazing.We enjoyed it a great deal.Anything you would have at home you have there.Thank you for the play things in the pool area for the children to use. Next time we will make use of the Weber braai and the outdoor bar area.The entire lodge is secure which means you don't have to worry about your car."
