  • "Good bird life"

    16 October 2017

"The accommodated is very neglected. Kitchen not clean and the fridge is dirty and smells."

  • "CHAOS ON ARRIVAL"

    15 May 2017

"On arrival we were told that our room (which we confirmed twice before arrival) was given to someone else. Fortunately for the owners, we knew those guests and they were prepared to move upstairs. There were also just 2 large towels, no soap or shampoo in the bathrooms and the bathroom floor was filled with water from a pipe underneath the basin the next morning. We requested breakfast for 8h00 and at 7h50 I phoned the owners to ask them about breakfast as there was no one in the kitchen. (most of the other guests were also waiting around). Breakfast was eventually served but presented cold."

  • "Stunning location. Awesome hosts"

    22 February 2017

"We had a fabulous stay at Zululand Country Lodge. The gardens are spectacular - the photos don't do it justice. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and generously accommodating to all needs. I would recommend including a braai or at least an evening round the boma. <br/>"

  • "Amazing Stay at the Zululand Country Lodge"

    04 August 2015

"Wow, what a fantastic place. The view, the area, the lodge itself was all very awesome. I received such a warm welcome, which made me feel very at home. The rooms are spacious and fully equipped. I must rave about the boma and bonfire, it was so beautiful. I will definitely be coming back soon, and will pass on the word to my friends and family. I would like to thank the owners of the Lodge for a wonderful stay."

  • "Beautiful Lodge in a Beautiful Town"

    13 July 2015

"Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Zululand Country Lodge. I was greeted with a smile upon arrival and escorted to my room by the manager, Humphrey. The room was clean and fit with everything I needed for my stay. <br />Humphrey went out of his way to make sure that I got the best experience of Zululand including letting me know about all the activities available in Mtunzini, from the Rafia Palm Monument to kayaking in the estuary. I got to see one of the most rare birds of prey, the Palm-nut vulture, walking through the Rafia Palms. A must do! <br />I ended the day off with a drink around a stunning bonfire. The bonfire was situated in an ethnic enclosure with benches fitted on top of beach sand. Perfect!<br />Humphrey is very knowledgeable about the area and answered my many questions. Expect me back soon! P.s the food was great too! <br />"

  • "Dissapointed"

    02 April 2015

"We were a bit dissapointed. No signs directing to the guesthouse - not even a name on the gate! House and garden need attention. Room could be cleaner and service more professional."

  • "Zululand Country Lodge"

    02 April 2015

"It was very difficult to find as there is no signage on the lodge. Travel instructions were also incomplete - McCullum Street does not lead off of Hely Hutchinson Road, as indicated on the confirmation of booking receipt, and no street address number was given for the lodge. It was reasonably comfortable with a lovely view of the estuary. Coffee, tea and sugar sachets were not replaced when used and cups were neither washed nor replaced once used. No fridge, to keep milk fresh, was available in our room and there was no TV in the room."

  • "Nice house, room, garden and owner"

    15 August 2014

"Very nice place to stay. The room No 4 has a nice balcony and bathroom. The owner was very open and interested. He gave helpful hints where to go and even told us a lot about South Africa's social situation. Breakfast very good."

  • "Astoundingly great value for money"

    01 March 2014

"Exceptional property an absolute must stay whilst in S.A. The unlimited FREE wifi gives you opportunity to stay in contact with the outside world whilst immersing yourself in Mtunzini with lots to do in the surrounding breath taking countryside. The property itself is tastefully beautifully decorated & furnished with spacious bedrooms (downstairs with garden views, upstairs with view of the swimming pool, estuary and sea). For the independent traveller this is a must as Humphreys Glass does not charge extra for single occupancy. For couples and families it offers so much, use of house kitchen and lounge, lots of outside seating & eating areas, exquisite rolling lawns and garden with fountain, a boma and giant brie (BBQ for us Europeans), the beautiful pond with the frogs, the relaxing forest retreat section and lots of fascinating birds. I stayed for 10 nights and it was not long enough. I will be back next year to enjoy more of this jewel in the crown of South Africa."
