Jakkalswater Guest Farm, is a nature-oriented guest farm, about 13km outside Springbok (on the Nababeep road) and about 6km off the N7 highway, in the heart of Namaqualand. It is nestled in the slopes of granite boulders of the Kamiesberg, where quiver trees overlook the valley and Klipspringers roam.
Jakkalswater is entirely off the grid and green. The incredibly pure (and delicious) water is obtained from a natural underground fountain. Our power is supplied by solar panels and the geysers work with gas.
Here are a number of self-catering units, comfortably furnished and each equipped with all the basic necessities. Each of the rooms can accommodate between 2 and 8 guests and is serviced daily. Furthermore, there is also a camping site, where each camp has its own braai area, tap and canopy, with every 2 campsites sharing ambitious amenities. Here are also 4 log cabins, equipped and each with their own bathroom.
Jakkalswater also has a beautiful chapel, where your dream wedding can be held! It is nestled in the giant granite mountains and has a breathtaking view of the Namaqua Valley. Here is a very large sheltered venue facility / lapa, where the function can be held - equipped with braai facilities, bathrooms and all the essential amenities. The venue is also ideal for seminars and gatherings, where large numbers of guests can gather and are currently hosting a number of well-known organizations' annual functions.
About half of the plant species here, do not occur anywhere else in the world. When the winter rains fall, the farm and surrounding granite boulders, are wrapped in a floral blanket which creates the most beautiful floral spectacle in the world. With nearly 3,000 plant species, including goat bark vygies, daisies, Gazania's, cat tails and so on, the area will amaze you!
Guests can walk around the farm and enjoy the scenery. Climb the granite hills and seek out the mysterious Klipspringers and the baboons, who make the mountains their home, or walk in the dry riverbanks, looking for the speckled padloper, while the floral kingdom is admired.Jakkalswater is, of course, a destination of its own, but also offers guests an ideal overnight option, on-route to Namibia, the Richtersveld and the northern west coast of South Africa. Here are endless incredible day trips that can be done, with Jakkalswater as your baseCome enjoy the privacy, endless views, breathtaking sunsets and exceptional starry skies!
"The room was very conformable, went for a lovely walk the next morning."
"The second time excellent again. Sorry no WIFI and no breakfast available."
"Lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Lots of birds in the succulent garden. Amanda was very kind and friendly. Perfect for an overnight stop."
"If you ever need to travel through or stay over at Springbok, do yourself a favour and take a 15km drive out of Springbok to Nababeep. Such a lovely, tranquil stopover."
"My colleague and I stayed at Jakkalswater during a work trip to Springbok and had a short but lovely stay. The quiet and darkness were wonderful. The rooms were big with very comfortable beds and a well equiped self catering kitchen.Would definatly recommend it to someone else and go back myself."
"Our stay was lovely - we really enjoyed the peace and quiet.<div><br /></div><div>The room is very tidy and comfortable, but could use some more cutlery and crockery.</div>"
"I had an absolutely amazing experience! We were welcome by the staff at Jakkalwater and they supplied us with any additional wood/ice that we needed!<div><br /></div><div>The rooms were delightful and the beds extremely comfortable!</div><div><br /></div><div>I will use them again for sure!</div>"
"The rooms are beautiful but the lodge lacks plenty, we payed extra for breakfast in our package and weren't served any. The room didn't have any shampoo, condition or soap. It didn't have any coffee, tea, sugar either(we had to request some in the end). Not at all what I expected for paying 1000 rand."
"A very beautiful, spacious room with nice decor, modern bathroom. A very pleasant stay."
"We enjoyed a wonderful stay in one of the most beautiful parts of SA. Due to all the entrants in the MTB race, our unit did not have all the amenities such as a kettle, a lead for power to the radio that they provided, a bedside table. Small things - but we enjoyed it."
"What a lovely setting, just a few things that need to be ironed out to make it a four star rating. A few reviews ago on the Safarinow website there was reference made to the "games" room, we did not see anything along those lines.Overall feeling was "satisfied", could have been "fantastic"!Lots of little things to fix to make it "fantastic"."
"A beautiful place! We had a wonderful time. Thanks to Alwyn and Liana."
"First the cons: - Unfortunately the location that's in the confirmation was incorrect (it's a golf course). But we found it eventually. - Nobody was there to help the first minutes so we were a little bit helpless... The pros: - Great spots for camping. Nice concrete to park the car and grass to sit on. - Close enough to Springbok to do shopping and far enough to don't have a hassle with the busy city. Stayed one night on our way to Namibia, but was great (we were the only ones)."
"We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Jakkalswater. Simple but comfortable room, clean bathroom, welcoming hosts and stunning surroundings."
"Great caring hosts. Great stay, away from it all. Will certainly return when we pass this way again. Look forward to continued development including TV room."
"Lovely place! My family and I camped over one night and was truely impressed. The camp sites are beautiful with lush green grass, which I did not expect given the climate. The ablutions were the best I have ever seen and spotless! The B&B accommodation is lovely too, the owner let us have a look around! The kiddies play park, the chapel, the farm dam evrything was amazing! I will definately make the trek back to go there again."
"Stayed at the place and yes it is still under construction but what a gem. Service excellent, rooms of superior standard. Thanks."
"Although still in process this was a good experience - good food and very nice people. Would like to visit again after completion."
"A nice, peaceful stay, friendly service, clean and tidy and affordable. Still developing but can definitely recommend to one and all."
"A lot of effort put in to make this place beautiful. Situated high with nice view of the valley. Owners very friendly and helpfull. Nababeep is close by for the Namakwaland daisies"
"We spent just one night in our camper on one of the campsites. Being the only guests, we did not understand why we had to take the campsite closest to the main road, although all other places are more secluded and less noisy. Facilities okay, environment very nice because of the blooming season - may look different when its over."
"While I think that ultimately this will be a very good place to stay, and the owner tried hard, at the moment it is just not ready for visitors. It is still a building site and the rooms need to be finished off properly with the addition (in the case of our room) of somewhere to hang towels, both hand and bath, as well as bedside lights, hooks for kitchen towels and complete sets of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils etc. Or it should be made into a dinner, bed and breakfast facility obviating the need for most of the above."
"Perfect - 5 Star camping facilities. Rooms very comfortable and well laid out. Would recommend this establishment to anybody. Owners are very kind and extremely hospitable."
"Liana and her husband are extremely accommodating with great hospitality for overnight accommodation. If in transit or coming to see the flowers great place to base oneself. Clean fresh accommodation in the Springbok surrounds - also with fantastic camping sites with own ablution area."
