"Goldfields Lodge has a 4-star grading from the tourism council. They must have bribed and/or lied their way to that because I'm not convinced it deserves a single star. The description on SafariNow said that ALL rooms had air-conditioner - ours did not, and not even a fan either. The bathroom had no soap, the "fully equipped kitchen" had no dish washing liquid, virtually no cooking utensils, the microwave was fixed at eye level and it's cord couldn't reach the power outlet and there was no dustbin to be found anywhere. The passage to our room had lights but these were not switched on until well after dark so we had to use our mobiles' flashlights to struggle with our luggage to our room. You are also not given a key to the motor gate so you must rely on security to hopefully arrive at the time you said you wanted to leave. Not impressed."

"We wanted to visit the Marievale Nature Reserve and Goldfields was the ideal place to stay. We were very impressed with the deluxe room, very clean and one of the most comfortable beds we'd slept in for the whole trip. An excellent restaurant on site and a very good price."
