  • "Beautiful setting"

    21 August 2018

"We had a lovely stay at Poplar Grove. The farmhouse is immaculate and we were well looked after by V the Housekeeper. The farmhouse is quite remote and there wasn't any cell phone reception."

  • "The venue was beautiful and tranquil however extremely secluded with no cellphone reception."

"This venue is not safe for ladies on their own. No cellphone reception and only the lady that cleans on the premises. Extremely secluded. Cellphone reception 2km + away."

"Place is exceptional value for money. Large farm house off the beaten track. Lovely lady cleaned in the morning and evening which was a real treat not having to wash dishes. Everything really was great."

  • "Fantastic!"

    02 March 2018

"We have been booking through SafariNow and staying in many different self-catering accommodation places throughout South Africa for the past ten years, and in some amazing places. That being said, Poplar Grove is the best place, all-round.The 20+ km drive off the N3, travelling through the gorgeous scenery of the Midlands Meander is well worth it. For sure, though, this is one time when the destination is as worthy as the journey! Arriving at the gloriously-situated Poplar Grove Farm House, we were thrilled to discover a huge, rambling home all to ourselves. The home is so beautifully appointed in every aspect. What a fantastic kitchen! What gloriously luxurious modernized bathrooms! What a comfortable living room area and interesting library! What awe-inspiring peace at night with the starry skies to marvel at! I don't normally wax quite so eloquent, but it really was the highlight stay of our 10-day visit to South Africa this time around."

  • "Spacious and Quiet"

    26 October 2017

"We really enjoyed our stay at Poplar Grove. The house is very spacious and equipped with all the amenities you could possibly need and it's serviced daily. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are a particular highlight. It's located on a scenic farm off the beaten track and there was plenty of space for our toddler to roam in complete safety. There are also beautiful hiking trails that start from the house so it's a perfect place to relax and unwind. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that there is absolutely no cell reception at the house (the closest point is 3km away) which may be a pro or con depending on the purpose of your stay."

  • "Sublime"

    24 October 2013

"The only disappointment about our stay is that we only stayed for one night! The accommodation was one of the best I have seen in a long time. It was pouring with rain when we arrived, the staffed made us a wonderful fire and we sat in front of a roaring fire, looking at the majestic view with rain coming down, snuggling up with a book. Poplar Grove is highly recommended and great value for money I will definitely be back."
