There are also no less than 3 nationally accredited 18-hole golf courses around Hawklee and the Anglo-Zulu war battlefields and a stones throw away with the magnificent Drakensburg on our door stop and the Sani pass.Scenic walks can be done nearby and a short river walk on the property while you admire the beautiful bird life we are privileged to see. "We enjoyed a wonderful break at Hawklee House recently. The facilities are good with wonderful walks along the river and the owners and staff are extremely caring and service orientated. We will definitely return. We stayed in Otter cottage which is fairly private and has a lovely Jacuzzi bath, good shower, heaters for the cold and full sports channels on DSTV - a bonus!"

"The hosts were great, and the rooms were neat and tidy; but the rooms were freezing. Even with the room heaters, we were shivering the whole night. If they buy more heaters, I would highly recommend it."

"The location is stunning! We walked all the way to the top of the hill where the views are spectacular. If I could give some form of constructive criticism, it would be good to have a table with chairs in front of each bungalow. We took our lunch back to the bungalow and had to eat on the stairs balancing our wine glasses on the grass. A bit of privacy between the bungalows would have gone a long way, and being the honeymoon suite, we expected a fireplace and candles next to the spa bath ...... Other than that, the food is wonderful and the hosts are great."

"Hawklee Country House afforded us a peaceful & relaxing long-weekend. The lack of cell phone reception & no TVs in the bedrooms left us undisturbed & able to spend quality family time together.The evenings are really chilly this time of year but the room was well equipped with heaters, towel-warmers, warm blankets.The electricity supply to the establishment did fail them on 2 evenings, which was most unfortunate."
