"Old but everything works and is very comfortable with all facilities"

  • "First impressions are important"

    24 July 2016

"After a long drive down from Moremi and looking forward to a nice comfortable hotel room, my wife and I were surprised as our GPS took us through what seemed like the backwaters of Palapye. When we pulled into the car park my headlights passed over what looked like piles of rubble and rubbish, my wife and I found this disconcerting. We parked and walked into reception, there was nobody on the front desk and the reception area looked extremely tired and shabby. The supper options of spaghetti bolognaise and macaroni cheese written up on the chalk board also didn't particularly appeal. My wife and I looked at each other turned around and walked out. Based on first impressions I was happy to forfeit my booking.

Establishments Response:

We were very upset by Mr Harding's review as he did not wait long enough for us to explain and apologise for the building of our new entrance and fence, which included the removal of some trees. The workmen had knocked off for the weekend. We also have a Menu available. The menu on the wall is a small sample but also includes steak and chicken. We have sent him an email to apologise as we are very proud of our historic Hotel. The Botswana museum last month sent a group to scan our lovely old photos for an exhibition.Thank youLynn Freeman"

  • "minus 10 stars"

    07 October 2013

"It was a terrible place to stay. Talk about false advertising! Expensive, unkempt, rural and nothing like the pictures on the website. Other patrons and their guests made a huge racket and management did nothing about it. To top it all the rooms rate was increased just before we had to pay."

  • "Nice place for a stopover"

  • "A great place to stay!"

    06 June 2013

"We stayed one night in May, 2013 and really enjoyed it. The grounds are lovely, and the proprietors and staff were extremely friendly and gracious. They went out of their way to draw a map so we could find Old Palapye (which was fascinating) the next morning. Jock, the chubby resident dog, was very sociable too! Rooms are pleasantly tatty and clean. The breakfast room is cheery, and the bar is decorated with interesting old photos of the hotel and town. There isn't much else in Palapye, but we were glad to find this place."
