Iphupho Bush Lodge

This Lodge is best suited for two couples or a family looking for that African Experience. The lodge is situated away from the fairways and is very private.

It offers the visitor a unique opportunity to experience life in the wild while staying in a comfortable home.

Hans Merensky Golf Estate is located in the city of Phalaborwa which is synonymous with the Kruger National Park Aand its bustling tourism industry. Also known as the valley of the elephants, the area is abundant with wildlife.

The estate itself which started out as a hotel with golf course, was later converted into a residential estate. Because of the propertys proximity to the eco sensitive area which surrounds it, only 79 sites were allowed to be sold for this purpose, each 1ha in size.

The estate boasts a large compliment of wildlife, including warthogs, giraffe, zebra, impala, crocodile, hippos, wild dogs, lion, leopard etc. The wildlife are allowed to freely roam the golf course and residential areas which are highly sensitive to their presence.

The golf course is a 18 hole championship course designed by Bob Grimsdell. The golf course is complemented by a hotel with conference facilities and several restaurants.

There is also a curio shop, hair dresser / beautician, pro shop and club house.

The estate has excellent security, with 24 hour security patrol and boomed entrance with access control for residents and members.

The finishes of the house are typical bush lodge, from thatch roof with 45deg pitch for that large double volume feeling, to the iron oxide screeded floors.

The light fittings, vanity bowls in the toilets are all pottery from the local area. All timber in the lodge used for windows and doors including frames are made from sleeper would (Teak).

The kitchen is custom made from Teak with high quality fitting, including granite tops.

  • "Perfect secret."

    04 July 2016

"Tucked away down gravel roads lined with indigenous bush, past neighbours whose houses are so far away that you can barely see them, is this little piece of heaven. We were delighted with the house, but it is the setting and the wild animals that you can spot as you stretch your legs with a morning stroll that make this place a treat not to be missed if ever you are in need of a place to stay in Phalaborwa. We were very sorry to only be staying for one night."

"Stayed at Iphupho Bush Lodge from 5-7 Nov 2013. There was no soap in the showers, the pool was quite dirty, 1 of the aircons was leaking, which caused the lights to trip. Quite disappointed."
