ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
Your hosts George and Elsabe, besides being most caring and hospitable, are an absolute fountain of information when it comes to Prince Albert and the surrounding countryside. From magnificent sunrises and sunsets to the spectacular Swartberg Pass (completed in late 1888 by Sir Thomas Bain) with its unrivaled vistas, an engineering accomplishment which to date remains an illusive art. Birding, flora, star gazing information and a story to tell.
The finest export stone fruit comes from this fertile region which boasts a sunshine index of more than 330 days per year! It is this combination of sunshine, fertile soil and life-giving water from the mountain which results in the sweetest high quality fruit fit East supermarket shelves. This very same subtropical climate ensures that mild winters with sunny warm days are experienced making Karoo Lodge the ideal getaway year round.
