26 On Chamberlain Guest House

Situated in Queenstown, overlooking the majestic landmarks of Bowkers Kop and Longhill, you will find this exclusive Victorian-style guest house. Construction of the guest house, which is completely separate from the main house, commenced in July 2009 and was completed in January 2010. Originally the property consisted of four erven and the address was 100 Berry Street, until the plot was sub-divided in the 1940’s. The house was designed in the typical Victorian style and became fondly known as “Chimney Tops”.

Accommodation comprises three deluxe rooms and five standard rooms. All rooms boast underfloor heating, electric blankets, 100% cotton percale linen, air-conditioning and adjustable mood lighting. There is a swimming pool, pool lounges, honesty bar, entertainment lounge with fireplace and an air-conditioned dining room. Rooms also contain full en-suite bathrooms and LCD televisions with DStv. We also provide scrumptious home cooked dinners and full buffet breakfasts, together with lunch packs by arrangement.

The design of the guest house had to meet with Heritage Council standards. One of the requirements was that the new buildings be consistent with the main house, so as to maintain the Victorian style, hence the pitched gables, false shutters and mock sash windows. The building that houses bedrooms 1-5 is new, whereas bedrooms 6-8 were converted from a large stable block which was added to the property in 1937.
