"A lovely stay on a Free State farm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hostess was charming and warm and prepared a lovely dinner and served it to us in our chalet. An overall great experience and would certainly stay there again."

  • "Ploegfontein farm stay."

    04 September 2018

"We stayed on our way home from Sedgefield. Yverne was most hospitable and friendly and made our stay an absolute pleasure. Her dinner too was far better than other overnight stays that we have experienced and we will certainly visit again as soon as we travel down to the Cape at the end of the year."

  • "Felt Like Home"

    09 January 2018

"Yverne made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The lovely open garden and pool area were very welcome in the summer heat, the accommodation was comfortable and clean and the attention to detail was great (such as separate towels for the pool). The cherry on top was the delicious dinner! This will definitely be our halfway stop when we take our next trip to the Cape!"

  • "A most comfortable stopover"

    30 July 2016

"We recently had the opportunity of spending the night at Ploegfontein. We loved the stay and felt so comfortable in the warmth of the kind, generous hospitality we received from Robert and Yverne, all rounded off of course with a scrumptious dinner!
Definitely well worth the slight detour off the N1.
Highly recommended."

  • "Warmest welcome ever!"

    21 March 2016

"it was only a stop over en route to Paarl, however it was the best experience. Yverne has the warmst smile when welcoming us and the the cottage at the swimming pool..... To die for. It is spacious and absolutely comfortable. Every little thing has been allowed for. The dinner prepared and served in our cottage belongs Master Chef. Exceptionally tasty. I would definitely be staying at Ploegfontein again."

  • "A welcome oasis"

    14 December 2015

"What a gem! From hostess Yverne's enthusiastic and warm welcome, to the peaceful and pristine surrounds, the delicious home-cooked dinner, and cool sparkling pool after a long days' hot drive, Ploegfontein was a very welcome respite from our travels. We wished we'd had the fore-site to book a longer stay. We will definitely be seeing Ploegfontein again :)"

  • "Farm Stay"

    23 July 2015

"As we need to over night fairly frequently on our trip from Somerset West to Nelspruit -our choice stopover pointis either Springfontein or Bloemfontein going North. Ploegfontein was an ideal stay with friendly good service and very comfortable, safe accommodation. We will use again and recommend."

  • "Hearty and warm welcome"

    11 April 2015

"After a long day of travel, Ploegfontein was like an oasis in the desert. We had a hearty and warm welcome from the Hostess, doing her all to make us comfortable relaxed, also helping out with our kids. The peace and quiet of the farm was most welcome. Dinner was exceptional and of great value. The farm is also close to the highway and the road to it is well maintained (we got to the farm easily with our sedan). I would recommend the farm to anyone looking for a stop over on the N1. The closest fuel station is on Springfontein South of ramp, so fill up before going to the farm if coming from the North, or in the morning on the way out if coming from the South."

"From the lovely warm welcome from Yverne to the refreshing pool and a wonderful delicious lamb pie served in our room. This was a great place to stop over on our way back home. You can tell that we are not the only people who think so as the guest book is filled with returning guests. It is located only 6km from the N1"
