Stormsvlei Riverside Cottages

Stormsvlei Riverside Cottages offers self-catering accommodation in the tranquil hamlet of Stormsvlei on the banks of the Sonderend River, 20 km from Bonnievale and Riviersonderend and 40 km from Swellendam. Stormsvlei is a unique little town with a lot of history, and we aim to maintain the tradition of restful country hospitality.

The old artisans quarters from 1860 have been beautifully converted into three self-catering units, each with their own private entrances facing in different directions. We also have an old schoolmasters house that was renovated in November 2011. Both the house and the cottages are homely and comfortable, fitted with antique furniture and heirlooms.

The cottages and the house offers fully equipped kitchens and all of the units feature an indoor fireplace or braai area, as well as an outdoor braai. The beds are made up with 100% percale linen and bath towels are also supplied. In addition, we supply firewood and also some fresh milk from our Jersey cows.

The river flows nearby and is the ideal place for picnics, swimming, fishing, canoeing, walks or bird-watching. Guests can also braai next to the river, or use the row boats, and if you go for a stroll you can see our Galloway cattle grazing in the fields. The Stormsvlei Farm stall and Restaurant, in the old hotel from 1920, offers locally sourced, freshly prepared food.
