Mermaid Guest House

Mermaid Guest House is situated in the picturesque town of Struisbaai, five km from the southernmost tip of Africa. We have six en-suite rooms with sea views on the first floor and two family units sleeping six and four people respectively, on the ground floor.

We have a fully licensed restaurant, comfortably seating 30 people and an indoor braai/barbecue. We also cater for business meetings with a conference facility seating 20 people. Guests can relax in our swimming pool during the summer days or sit in front of the fireplace during the winter months.

We are within a 400 m walking distance from the main swimming beach as well as all other amenities in town. Visit our famous working lighthouse, the historical harbour and the southernmost tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet.

For the more adventurous person there is whale and dolphin watching, deep sea fishing, kite and windsurfing, and the Spookdraai and Rasperpunt hiking trails. We also cater for nature lovers and welcome bird watchers, as well as anyone wanting to discover the beautiful proteas and fynbos.

Fabulous breakfast including the entertaining birds outside the window. Great reference for dinner at the Pelican by the harbor. And to the Michael Collins Irish Pub right down the road. A great addition to the wonderful memories I'll have of my first visit to South Africa."

"We arrived very late due to the train troubles but the manager was there to greet us with a big smile. After 27 hours on the train and 2 hour drive in a dark, we were exhausted. But once we got into our room, we felt at home and relaxed. The room was prepared perfectly - warm and clean. The breakfast was very delicious. "We stayed in the Mermaid Guest House just one night and we really enjoyed it there. Due to traffic we arrived very very late in the evening (around 11 p.m.). But the lady was so nice and just showed us everything, even as she stayed at the guest house just for us. The rooms are decorated in the maritime style and are really clean. The breakfast was fresh (fruits,different jam) and you could order warm stuff and the kitchen just made it freshly for you. We can really recommend this guest house if you want to stay in the area of the Cape Aghulas. We just loved it there and could unfortunately only stay one night. We would have loved to stay longer!"

"Die ontvangs toe ons gearriveer het, het jou sommer dadelik tuis laat voel. Dis 'n pragige en vriendelike tuiste, het dit baie geniet en alles is so mooi. Die ontbyt was uit die boeke uit en ek het heerlik geÃ«et. Die gasvryheid is eerstklas en ons kon nie vir beter gevra het nie. Sterkte en alle voorspoed vir die jaar wat voorlÃª.
