  "Suider strand is absolutely wonderful and overall the house is spacious and welcoming. However there are not 6 rooms as advertised and the owner of the property did not inform me of this until the day I arrived. In fact I had to contact her to find out why the 6th room as not available! It should be noted that the 6th room also has a caretaker occupying it. Unfortunately this caused a massive problem for me, who booked the house to accommodate 12 adults and two toddlers. We had to embarrassingly tell our friends they had to sleep split up and sleep on a single bed in someone else's room or on the very uncomfortable sleep couch.When later confronting the owner as to why she took payment for 12 adults when she can clearly only accommodate 10 properly she tried to say she charges per a guest and not per a room. I just felt it unfair as none of this was stipulated prior to my payment and I felt deceived. Most rooms have an ensuite and how can you charge the same price per a guest with a full room and ensuite as one that has to sleep on a couch or split up in different rooms. So be warned, if you have a group of 12 adults, or couples that want their own room this house can not accommodate you properly!"

  "There is a line when 'rustic' becomes derelict. The unit has reached that point and is neglected. Railings are broken, paint peel, door is broken, walls and everything was dirty with dog hair everywhere. Dishes and kitchenware needed to be washed before it could be used, though not dried off as towels were full of dog hair. The kettle and stove were too grimy to even touch! After clearing the spider and cobwebs from the shower, one was still left with a ball of hair against the wall and a stale piece of someone's soap on the floor. The shower curtain is so full of mould, one would rather not shower. Upon checking in, we happened upon the owner in the yard who upon complaining, kind of mopped up most of the dog hair and grime from the middle part of the kitchen floor, and wiped the worst grime off the fridge door, but the rest remained in bad shape. The owner never checked on us again and never contacted us during our stay. It seems they just don't care.<br/><br/>Establishments response:<br/><br/>Dear Johan<br/><br/>Thank you for your feedback.<br/><br/>I am terribly sorry that you had such a bad experience staying at our house.<br/>I have attended to the matter of the unit not been clean. I do apologize for that as that is totally unacceptable.<br/>Regarding the maintenance of the place, my husband arrived the day before your arrival. He has relocated to the area and will be attending to all the maintenance issues that we have at the beach house. He will also ensure that the house is cleaned and managed correctly.<br/>Yet again I apologise for the terrible experience you had we do want our guests to be comfortable and enjoy our property.<br/><br/>Kind Regards<br/><br/>Lorraine van Zyl"

  "We had a great stay at the Southern Beach House.If you are just two people, you will stay in a part of the house, not the whole house. But it perfect and spacious enough for two people with a kitchenette and indoor braai place.Perfect for winter! We had a great time and will definitely recommend the stay and would love to come back."

  "Seven IT slaves needed a break from the grind. We thought heading to a rustic place would be it. Pondokkie is not what it seems. Its got the newest furnishings, tasteful decor and quirky trim that leave you feeling like you could just never return to the city. So close to the beach, yet off the beaten track so no cars, no noise and very little cell reception (Yay!). We loved everything about the stay. Thanks guys!"
