  • "Relaxing in the pool area"

"My 1st impression..entering the palace... felt excited and looked beautiful. The choas at the drop off zone soon changed my thoughts. No management of new check in. ..not coordinated well for this 5 star resort. The check in was slow..stood a while in the queue. Just heard people around me complaining about the wait and rooms not being ready. There was alot of negativity at this scene. Finally got my keys...went to my room.. 410...not impressed. The room smelt of smoke. I was exhausted...grieving the loss of my husband..I had no energy to complain. My daughter decided ...this cannot be the palace service..the cascades has better rooms mum...mum I complaining...she did.. the TV was not working..the safe door was broken..the room was smelling...we were moved to 403...which was much better. ..still not impressed with the palace room though...stay in in much more luxurious hotels...rooms need a upgrade and a freshness...it is not a wow...and the bathrooms need to be renovated...especially tioletsHad a good sleep. Breakfast...was chaotic..stood a while for a table at 9h00...got seat outside..was beautiful. Breakfast was Breakfast.. was looking forward to the site as per the review from Gordon ramsay a few yeas ago...nothing different to the cascade or cabanas. The pool area was great to sit andcrelax. Was clean and well mentained. Overall experience was not a wow..considering the high price I paid for a luxurious experience ...was not worth money. The cascades and cabanas would have given me the same kind of so called false luxury and I would have paid half of less than half the price. The palace..is not worth the spend...and overall I am disappointed and so is my daughter."

  • "The unexpected!!"

"We arrived an were treated in a very friendly and professional manner by all the people working at the Hotel, always traying to help and available 100% of the time .However: The room we paid for is almost R8000 a night in the 8th floor and we expected top quality , just to be very surprise by the bunch of problems we encountered inside it1) Toilet was leaking all night long in despite of our best efforts to stop the endless running water2) The toilet seat was swinging from the wall like a kite in a turbulent weather3) The sliding door separating the sleeping area from the bathroom was broken and extremely hard to close4)The glass\sliding door in one of the 3 balconies had a broken lock and refused to be closed in despite of our efforts, which made us very concern regarding our safety ( lots of monkeys in the area)5)Sink with serious issues in connection with a partially blocked drain6)Hi Fi very slow and in general with bad quality7) No proper sleeping facilities for our 2.5 years old boy as the second bed in the room was very high from the floor8) Payment facility very difficult as everything have to be paid by card even if we had enough cash to do so, leading to unnecessary issues when far from the room and wanted to buy and pay for anything for us or our baby9)In despite of getting authorization to leave the hotel an hour later (12) they closed the account and it appeared like we were gone by 11, which caused serious issues to pay for what we consumed before leaving.10) It took more than 30 mins to get ice cream form the bar near the pool in despite of our frequents remainders to the staff working there as there were not busy but did not seem to care enough. In general de hotel is looking like it needs some tough love and a lot of fixing ,and maintenance have to improve as well to take it back were it was not so long agoHuman resources very good same in general , same as the food but that was the end of the good news for usSimply put: Nothing Justified the crazy price we had to pay for in that hotel!!! We hope everything can be fixed and improved uponLize and Ruben"
