  • "Warm cosy stay with everything we needed!"

    17 September 2018

"What a lovely spacious cottage in one of Sutherland's historical buildings. Everything we need and more - such great value for money. Ronelle was there to meet us and what a treat to find electric blankets and wall heater panels to make the place warm and cosy. Wish we could have stayed longer! We'll be back!"

  • "Chill out at the Galaxy"

    30 November 2017

"We have just spent three marvellous days slowing down and relaxing in Sutherland. With easy access to the stargazing ( if you have any flexibility in your schedule, check the phase of the moon for the best effects ), the Galaxy offers clean and very comfortable accommodation and a charming host in Kobus."

  • "Spacious, comfortable and immaculate"

    16 October 2017

"Clean, spacious and comfortable. Welcoming Earl Grey tea, coffee and rusks set out for guests. Lovely garden and bird life - we enjoyed watching the red-faced Mouse birds in the blossom trees just out side our bedroom window. Many thanks!"

  • "The cottage was equipped with everything we needed."

    03 August 2017

"The cottage was comfortable and really had everything to make our stay enjoyable. The owner Kobus was friendly and helpful and always ready for a chat. We will definitely stay at The Galaxy if we visit Sutherland again. The photo on the website is of the main house and not the actual cottage which is at the back of the house but should not discourage people because the cottage is absolutely beautiful inside."

  • "the snow that fell on Sunday"

    19 July 2017

    "Our stay in cold Sutherland"

  • "Frozen"

    18 July 2017

"Happy, friendly welcome from Kobus - a very helpful host. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. However, the room was exceptionally cold and we struggled to start the gas heater. We had expected breakfast as the pics on the website showed a delicious breakfast served on the verandah. We found good food in the town. A tv in the room would be nice. Sutherland is an isolated beautiful frozen gem."

  • "Plattelandse gasvryheid"

    25 January 2016

    23 December 2014

"Koos and Betsie were the most delightful, helpful and attentive hosts. We stayed in the outside cottage which needs a little TLC but offers comfy beds, spacious showers and is spotlessly clean. All in all exceptional value for money."

  • "GREAT STARS AT THE GALAXY"

    31 March 2014

"We stayed at The Galaxy on Saturday night and encountered wonderful hospitality from Betsie and Kobus Muller, the charming and delightful owners of this quaint B&B. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, the breakfast which they personally served was generous and tasty, typical Karoo morning fare from fruit cocktail (including prickly pear), juice, warm oats with cinnamon, coffee and tea, full cooked breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, etc..it kept us bikers going for half the day! And there was very little about Sutherland and its history the Mullers did not know and they share their fascinating knowledge enthusiastically, and all of this for R320 a head. We will be back!We cannot recommend The Galaxy highly enough - what a pleasure. Thank you again Betsie and Kobus"

  • "Home away from home"

    07 September 2013

"Betsie and Kobus could not be more welcoming and accommodating. The cottage is more than adequate and has all the comforts to keep one warm during the cold winter nights. Make sure you spend some time in Sutherland and arrange to visit the church and do a walking tour of the town. Fascinating history and very friendly locals. Obviously one visits SAAO and SALT but would recommend the day tour as you get to see SALT up close and the views from the mountain top are out of this world. The stars are exceptional and the local tour is really interesting. Dress warmly as no matter how many layers you have on you will still be cold. Being able to cater for yourself is really nice and the breakfast served by Betsie and Kobus is wonderful on the enclosed, warm, sunny veranda. Highly recommend The Galaxy."
