"My husband Matome and I spend the long weekend at Elands Rust and I must say that it was incredible. The house is decorated in such a way that you immediately feel at home upon arrival and each new day bring a new discovery to be made just indoors. The romantic evenings spent in front of the fireplace were amazing to say the least. The walks we took to the mountain surroundings were breathtaking and we did afternoon bike rides. We will definitely be back for a longer stay and we recommend the place 100%, you will not regret. Elizabeth was just too awesome and helpful. Thank you to Lydia and her family for welcoming us into their space. We are in love with Elands Rust. Rejuvenating."

  • "Now in a urgent need of care"

    05 January 2015

"This house was have been a wonderful place to stay in. It has not been taken care of, now, the roof is leaking from several places, the furniture on the veranda chairs is totally worn out, seat fabric has ruptured, the chairs is moldy. Carpets in the sleeping room upstairs are dirty and full of stains so are the curtains. In the bathroom first floor plug in the sink is stuck and can therefore not be used. The safe is not usable, the lady who take care of the place does not know how its work and it seems to be in need of repair, she neither knew how to operate the alarm."

  • "Peaceful & Tranquil"

    02 April 2014

"Elands Rust is a place where you can just relax and unwind in luxury. The house is in a beautiful setting and has all the amenities that you would wish for on self catering holiday/break with the addition that it is serviced daily. The owners also have a lot of extra little touches that you wouldn't expect from a self catering holiday destination. If you love hiking, walking, mountain biking, 4x4ing or just relaxing next to a fireplace, this place is definitely a must."

  • "What a gem!"

    09 July 2013

"We weren't having a very good day, until we finally got to Impofu House. As our small daughter led us through it with whoops of delight around every corner the sun literally and figuratively came out. When I saw the rear (braai) stoep I could only sigh - man, I really wish I could walk out to it every morning with a mug of coffee in my hand."

  • "Gorgeous place in an incredible setting"

    10 January 2013

"Impofu Lodge is one of the most relaxing places we have ever stayed. We spent a week there in January, and we could easily have stayed longer. Because it is so spacious, you never feel like you are in a hotel or B&B - it feels like a home away from home! The cottage is very well-equipped with a great kitchen, beautiful bedrooms (with lovely crisp linen), a nice large patio, and plenty of peace and quiet. Elizabeth, who looks after the place, is incredibly helpful and comes to clean once a day. She is very friendly and keeps the place immaculate. Impofu Lodge is a great base to stay if you are keen on going for hikes in the Drakensberg. The Parks Board is about 4km drive from the lodge (inside the Drakensberg Gardens Hotel - it is not well sign posted at all!). The Three Pools walk is exceptionally worthwhile doing. We also did a day trip up Sani Pass (you need a 4x4 for this, otherwise you can go on one of the organised tours from Underberg). This is definitely well worth doing too."

  • "Great"

    18 October 2012

"Wonderful, peaceful, definately will go there again if at all possible! Great service, homey feel combined with the fantastic views in close proximity to so many activities, but yet isolated enough to your own privacy!"

  • "Beautiful serviced self-catering home"

    13 August 2012

"Impofu Lodge is a tastefully decorated large sandstone home. Elizabeth was very pleasant, helpful and professional. Would highly recommend Impofu to friends and family and anyone wanting to relax in the picturesque Underberg area. Will be a return guest."

  • "5 Stars"

    27 July 2012

"Overall Rating is 5 out of 5 stars I had the pleasure a short while of experiencing this magnificent Southern Berg lodge and have nothing but a raving review. We found the establishment to be spotless and very well maintained. It is located in the Drakensberg foothills that made long walks and horse rides an absolute delight. If you are more energetic, there are some nice brisk walks up the sides of the adjacent hills. The feeling of tranquillity is enhanced by magnificent vista’s in all directions. The bird life is abundant and diverse. The rooms, lounges veranda are exceptionally spacious and comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed and easy to work in. I can highly recommend this lodge as an ideal get-away to enjoy the pleasures of nature in the luxury of a superb lodge. Pierre Hefer"
